Pre-order rate = $9.99/mo, But what if you skip a month or more??

Okay, I'm still considering pre-ordering this game mainly for the $9.99 per month price. But I am wondering what happens if I pre-order, then get my first 30 days free, then pay for 2 or 3 months at $9.99 per month... then I take a 6 month break? When I come back, will it still be $9.99 per month, or will the price go back to the standard $14.99?

Anyone know the answer to this question for sure?

If you stop subscription and reactivate, it will go back to 14.99 when you reactivate. At least according to the info at their site now.

Yep, I just answered my own question and it is answered here in the FAQ.... Question #9.

That's pretty lame I think. I was afraid of that though.

Well, like anyone, they want you to get on board and stay for a while.... so it sort of looks like this:

    1. if you are going to play at all, then at least pre-order. Get to start 3-weeks early, same product price, 10/mo

    2. If you can commit to play 21+ consecutive months, then get the lifetime. (note: built in interest-income on the $200, so the break-even month count is really more like 21).

Personally, with games like AoC and WAR coming out, I might want to play them next winter (if they are any good). Hard to commit to 21+ months of the same game... something I've never done with any MMO in my lifetime... but then, I enjoy sleeping around and having lots of variety in life.

Nothing wrong with lifetime choice with this game. Lots of xpacks for this game will be made I think. End-game might appear a little thin right now, but the world is only like 1/5 done at the most. Easily could have 5+ xpacks over the next X years....

The Founders Club options were meant to reward the dedicated to the game, imo. I'm geting the life sub on my 2 accounts and the way I see it, after 20 months I'm playing for free, with an occaisional need to buy an expansion.

The way I am looking at is I am going for the lifetime sub because I  doubt I will play 20 months straight. That way I can take a break and come back anytime I want without worrying about the price jumping on me. I fully plan on trying WAR and most likely AOC later this year unless Turbine is pumping out live content and expansions faster than I can out level em. I think the most likely scenario is I play for 3 or 4 months, take a break for 2 or 3 come back and play for another 5 or 6 take a break etc etc. I can see me playing the game that way for another five years or more and I will get my 20 months worth eventually.

    I miss DAoC

My mistake Jackdog.... you are right. I said "21+ consecutive months".... drop the 'consecutive'. SO if someone is going to play 21+ months total, then lifetime sub will pay off...

EDIT: if you can handle it ... hehe. For me, it's everything times 3 (myself and two sons). 600 bones is more than i can swallow atm...

    one year @ $15 = $180

up front $200 lifetime and six months later after conan & whamer retail (or beta) you can still play lotro w/o worry about lotro monthly ongoing subscriptions (although one will still have to buy the inevetable expansions.) Good to have back-up games so one does not burn out only playing the SAME game constantly.

Bhug is right $200 is really just 1 yr sub fee for any online game out right now so u will play for free after 1 yr and u dont have to worry about losing money when u go play a diff game.  Just look at the expansion schedule for Lotr they have it outline all the way till 2014 already so expect new expansion zone every 6 months and we get to see Mordor in 2013 yeah !
