City of Heroes/Villains (a tank/healer/nuker game for whatever reason) has two melee damage dealer + high defense classes. Those games aren't balanced any better than WoW is, but the melee damage + decent defense classes (e.g. the feared "tankmage" scrapper and brutes) aren't the only classes played and they don't dominate in PvP or PvE.
The notion that the guy wearing armor shouldn't be allowed to do good melee damage for game balance reasons is pure hogwash.
Warriors in WoW have the best armor and decent HPs, but that armor is useless against many magic-based attacks and those HPs are neglible compared to the amount of HPs available to a druid or paladin that can break out of melee to heal fully with the push of a few buttons (effectively more than doubling their HP pools in any fight against something that can't one-shot or stunlock them).
The main reason that warriors were nerfed (and consistently nerfed they have been since patch # 2 or 3) is because of insanely stupid weapons that were added to the level 60 game.

yep,and they keep doing it.why make the new "pwnzoor500 sword of deathliness" add 5dps when you could add .5 and a new graphic and have everyone wanting it..shrug
I think the rogue class since tbc release and in endgame is one of the weakest classes overall...
World pvp doesnt exist anymore which was a huge advantage for this class and BG´s aswell arenas are the areas to fight.
The rogue class is the class with most dependant on cooldowns, but since bc started many classes got higher hp and higher armor rates which is really bad for this class. This class became way to specific and is only a real cloth killer at 70 around, has enormous problems with plate and higher armor sets. In Addition, this class has several disadvantags in group pvp and nowadays group pvp is the only thing you will find most of the time. I really cant recommand this class to newcomers, only if you really want later on to hunt especially cloth classes, but overall you are better off with differenct classes which are much more comfortable for arena fights and group pvp. In pve the roge isnt anymore the only DD, damage in general went up big time for each class and warlocks, mages are top DDat the moment except you change your rogue talents for pure pve...well, you see the huge problems already and yeah...it is for me a weak class for this game since BC.
