I can try to give you an example i maded.

Here is the 9 zones we have at release to hunt in.

Now here is a screenshot from within Ettenmoor.

If you look at the castle ruin in the middle and look how far you can see to the soutn.

That's how far you can see in the other 3 directions too if you imagine the ruin is in the middle of the map.

So draw a circle around the map using the longest southline and you have a clue about what size a standard zone is.

It's absolutely tiny... at level 11 I ran from The Shire to Misty Mountains and only died once.

I don't know what people are smoking when saying that the world is small but it took me 1 week of hardcore play (10hours a day) to hit level 25 (50 max) exploring only 4 of these zones.

How in the world does only dieing once equate to being tiny?? So you only died once. How long did it take to run that distance? How long it takes to run there is a better measure of size then only dieing one time. All dieing one times says is the game isn't hard or you are very good at avoiding aggro.

Yes but at level 25 you can run through almost all zones and explore them with mobs on your tail.

Mobs don't follow you around for such a long time so it's easy to zig zag through spawns.

I saw most of the world at level 21.

If you stick to zones that suit your level it will take some longer time but within 6 weeks most players have seen it all.

It says how long time it takes to cross for example Bree land.

It's funny. In a game like vanguard people complain that the world is too big and you never see it all or do everything or see enough other people. And then others complain about a game like LOTR or DDO about it's too small and theres too much to do in those small areas and you don't explore enough. Just a fact that no one will ever be happy.

I for one like it. i'm lvl 15 and havn't been out of the second area yet i've seen plenty of instanced zones which make it seem a million times larger than it is. You got to accept it for what it is. A story based game based off of actual lore that already been written prior to the game.

Yeah well they will add more zones if people will buy the game and actually play it because they are thinking smart, why make tons of content if no one will play. Just look at the whole Middle Earth map: http://www.ziltox.dk/download/middle-earth_map_journey.jpg Its huge.

I have been beta testing this game since beta 1 started. I know how long it takes to run around this world. My point was that just cause a person dies one time running from the shire to the misty mountains doesn't speak for how small a world is. All that says is he is good at staying alive.

This is an ingame map of breeland i took while playing. Show me were it say on this map how long it takes to cross breeland.

To give others an idea i took that screenie and outlined what we have at release.

    Might be a bit incorrect.

Yea they also tried to keep the INITIAL game down to the most recognizable places of middle earth. I mean i wouldn't like walking a round a hug open icey wasteland in this type of game. Others maybe... this game no. i like it how it is.

The actual ingame map doesn't hvae this 13 minute line you drew across breland on it. Anyone playing the game will not see that. So it takes 13 minutes to cross breeland running along the road. That there speaks louder for the game size than the other poster saying it is tiny cause he died once from the shire to the misty mountains. Wich was my piont.

During the past few weeks I created 7 characters (one for each class) and leveled them to 10.  Despite re-running the lowbie areas over and over...there are still many, many places in the starting zones that I haven't explored yet.

The game world may not be that big...and I'm sure some powergamers will blow through it really fast, but the world seems big enough for me.  (lets just hope it doesnt take 2 years to get an expansion out the door.... like that "game that must not be named"....)
