Possible New Comer to EQ II Have some questions

attentivevowattentivevow Member Posts: 9
Hey all,

I played the Trial before and was not all too impressed but i'm willing to give it another shot. I have a few questions.

1) Is there a dedicated role-play server with a role-play ruleset?

2) Is there actually role-play on said server?

3) Is it even possible to get to high end at a acceptable rate with being a new player. (I.E. Will I experience the "Ghost Towns" for low level players?)

4) Is there any PVP?

5)Why do you play it?

Thanks!

I don't know for sure, but I believe there is.

    2) Is there actually role-play on said server?

    Same as above. (sorry)

    3) Is it even possible to get to high end at a acceptable rate with being a new player. (I.E. Will I experience the "Ghost Towns" for low level players?)

What is acceptable? I have lvled 3 toons to 30+ with only a couple of weeks playing, and that is only a couple hours at a shot. A lot depends on you and the type of toon you choose.  I guess you could power lvl if that is what you want, but you miss soooo much doing that.

    4) Is there any PVP?

I think that there are pvp servers, but I do not know how combat works there (again sorry). Other than that there is dueling.

    5)Why do you play it?

It is a blast. The community is great (I'm on Mistmore) and very supportive.  Crafting is not as much of a grind as SWG or WOW, and you can actually make some good stuff that you would like to use.  Lots of places to go and a ton of quests. In the end I guess it depends on your playing style.

    Thanks!

I shoot for the curve... anything above that is gravy.

    1) There are two servers designated as "Role-Playing Preferred." It's not enforced, and there's a fair amount of out-of-character chatter, but there's plenty of roleplaying to be found.

    2) On Antonia Bayle and Lucan D'Lere, the RP-Preferred servers, I've found plenty of people who talk in-character most of the time - it seems to be the norm, rather than the exception. I don't know what other MMOs you've played, but I can tell you it's far better than WoW.

    3) I'm moving along at a casual pace, and switching between characters a lot, so I haven't done any rapid leveling. My highest-level character is 38, and I have two in their 20s (level cap is 70). I've encountered the "ghost town" effect in a few zones, but there are always people crowded around the brokers and a few in the tradeskill instances.

    4) There's PvP, especially between the two opposing factions (Freeport and Qeynos), but I haven't participated in it, so I can't tell you how it works.

    5) I play it because I like the community, and it has the best roleplaying atmosphere of any MMORPG I've played.

Check out the forums for the two RP servers, and you'll get a feel for the roleplaying atmosphere:

yes, 2 RP servers, and one RP/PVP server

    2) Is there actually role-play on said server?

yes, but there are plenty of people who are ooc all the time

yes, leveling is pretty easy, even if you just run through solo quests because there's a hell of a lot of quests to do from 1-50, then it starts to slow down if you cannot find a group, but on most servers that's not a problem

    4) Is there any PVP?

there's the arena, which is mainly used for duels / group duels, there's normal duels which can be initiated pretty much anywhere, and there are PVP ruleset servers.

    5)Why do you play it?

I dont, anymore. I played on Vox, but I got sick and tired of the apinfuly low pop, and SoE refusing to address the problem. I did really like hte game though, because it was pretty fun, and I will probobly go back when the next x-pack is almsot rdy.

    Thanks!

There are 3 RP servers. In addition to AB and Lucen D’lere there is a PvP-RP server for which I can’t remember the name at the moment.

Thanks for the carification; I completely forgot about that one.

    It's Venekor, by the way.
