Just because it had a horrible launch doesn't doom the game...
Massive improvements have been made to EQ2 since launch.
V:SoH had a relatively unpleasant lunch and is slowly improving as most MMOs tend to do.
SOE is a little but whatever
I'll have to give the trial a go here soon... I don't think 7 days is nearly enough time to decide if I'd spend the money to buy the game or not though.
Actually... when the game launched... it was a hell of a lot more fun than when I unsubscribed. The game was seriously challenging, and I found it to be very exciting. Then they nerfed everything. Then they un-nerfed everything. Then they tried to balance everything. The servers went from semi-stable to horrible to less than optimal to LAG city.
About 4 months after launch, the game seemed to begin attracting bugs, exploits, and stupid developers like flies to a bloated carcass. It's a shame... it was, and could have continued to be, a great game.
I cannot comment on what happened to EQ2 after February of 2006, that's when I uninstalled the game and walked away. All I do know, is that I will most likely never play another game produced by SoE. Not only does their development team have their heads shoved up their own dumplings... their customer service reminds me of rancid cheese on a hot day.

But I'm not bitter.
