So I just noticed that "The Chronicle" forum was removed from MMORPG.com. Yea, yea, I know, since the game has been cancelled it makes sense that they close the forum.
However, I'm guessing they (RR) begged MMORPG.com to close it due to all the complaining about them which was going on there. So again, they choose to hide away rather than interact with the community (which, admittedly was giving them a bit of a well deserved beating). Another example of their utter failure at community relations.
Maybe noone cares, it was just an observation I made so I thought I'd post it.

All the more reason to regard MMOG projects as vaporware until proven otherwise.
Actually, in this case, the issue wasn't so much the cancellation of The Chronicle. It was the horrible way the company went about things over the past, oh, couple years or so. A long story if you hadn't followed it. People pre-ordered, they stopped all communication for a long time, then turned a new page and promised access to their Phylon title, then said @^&* you to their pre-orders and did a FP exclusive anyway, etc, etc. I won't bore you with the details :-)
But, yea, you're right about many MMOGs being vapor.
I played it, alot. I know some other people who have played it... alot. It existed, it just wasn't finished yet and would take a hell of alot longer then was slated.
See the problem was a big boast about creating content that would be playable for short bursts in a relatively short ammount of time (6 months). Where the reality kicked in and that didn't happen.
...till Phylon anyways... if you would've been happy with that ammount of content, they could've slapped another zone in there and be done with it. But it wouldn't have held a subscriber base for long likely...
...then there were also other issues I won't go into...
But it did exist as a playable game at one time.

If you say im wrong then describe what you had.
The stuff I saw from TC I could do myself in the BF editor. Easy.
You had no game. Never. You had no design document. You had nothing. Prove me wrong.
You didnt even have any talent at RR. Just some 20-something kids who couldnt produce anyting. Most of all you failed. You bragged. You tried to put us down. But hahaha, YOU are the loser. Your new game will never exist besides in your own mind.
Why do I say this?
Because you didnt repent. You still think youre brilliant when it comes to handling a community and making mmo's.
Time to change your nick....
Does it suck?

There were several outdoor areas. They weren't finished and they wouldn't let me take screenies to release. Trust me, if I had the screenshots I DID take right now, I'd plaster them all over the net for you people to laugh at.
I haven't changed my nick in ages... that's a shadey practice people use to escape their past instead of learning from it. Maybe you do that, but I'm above that.
...and I'm not making MMOs. It's a deadend market for 90+% of the games.

Unbelievablly so. They only reason they slapped Phylon together using the endless ages engine was so they could send out beta invite to all their pre-order customers and get them to agree to the beta. Once you agree to the beta you also agree that you can no longer ask for a refund. I doubt Phylon will ever see release. They are just using it to clean house.
Ceaser you went from being the average MMORPG.COM poster, to being a TC fanboi (which was fine as i was hyped for it to) then you went silent just like RR did and have been for ages and now you still, STILL try to stick up for them. They are shite, whats the point, i used to actually read your posts properly but then you hooked up with RR and changed.
It doesnt matter what you say now, its to late. RR messed up and the only reason you see it as a deadend market is because you got cought up in a lame company that where going no where (like most smaller companies these days sadly) they screwed up, pissed people off, made promises they couldnt keep, said things that where 100% false (thats right lied) and even had the cheek to start up a pre-order for somthing they knew would never make it to retail anyway (mourning?). Thats another thing, did everyone get there pre-order cash back in the end, if they didnt i hope RR burn in hell.
Lucky me, the one thing iv won from an MMORPG.com contest was a free pre-order of TC, great, i win somthing that would never be useable anyway, because some POS company couldnt follow up with what they said.
It the fact that there communication has been absolutly terrible that pisses me off, if they had said it wouldnt be possible to complete the game, we apologise blah blah blah, it would have been fine, its just the fact they kept everyone in the dark for so long.
To sum this up, RR ARE a sham of a company, Phylon is a waste of time and like the above poster has said they are just trying to keep pre-order money, what type of BS is that. The other thing they also messed up a pretty cool game for no reason just to make Phylon.
Disgraceful.

You really shouldn't pre-order MMORPGS. It rarely truns out well. Particularly when it's an indie company. If you do, you should realise that it's completely at your risk.
And I don't understand blaming a company for closing a forum which discusses a game that they cancelled, particularly when the entire remaining purpose of the forum is to flame that particular company for a failture they're well aware of, and clearly regret...

Yeah... well I made some good contacts while at RR. That's what's most important to me at this point.I dunno if everybody got their money back or chose phylon. I know some people who decided to dabble, they were in for about 5mins and then got bored and left... probably for the same reasons I was preaching in the studio.
Yeah, I know they messed up EA for Phylon. Guess they have some internal reason you should ask them.
I stick up for them cause I still have a few friends who get their paychecks over there... that's really my reasoning. Once they depart it's really going to be the end of my defence of RR unfortunately, I'll be extremely hands off from here on out.
...that goes for any company who leaves a stupid artist in charge. That's just bad game business practice...

I totally need to put my stupid face back on my userpic. Just got my hair all chopped off today, as soon as my camera gets unpacked from my boxes of crapola I'll take a picture and put it up there.
