Mr Brad please read this - very important

Hello Mr Brad.

Casual gamer (6-8h playtime a week) will quit VG because they can't achieve anything after Level 15+.

Power gamer (30-60h playtime a week) will quit VG because they reach level cap to fast.

The solution: Offer Casual Server and Hardcore Server like you offer PvP and PvE Server already.

Thank you for reading.

----------------------------------

Me:

I am a casual gamer. My playtime window is 3 session of 2 hours a week!

Good:

VG is a awesome game with breathtaking graphics and believable aka immersive lore.

The world is epic and a masterpiece of gaming history already.

Playing a Kojan/Tanvu warrior:

I will never forget the unexpected turn of storyline and the awesome island content.

Playing a Qalia/Mekalia psionicist:

The gnome city is actually dreams come true and the starter library dungeon nearby

should win a oscar.

Bad:

But after level 15+ i can't achieve anything in 2 hours playtime.

I don't want kill 1000 mobs to level up. I want the same fun VG is offering in starter areas.

Casual Server:

On casual server you should be able to level up once within 6h playtime

and that should be the golden rule up to level cap!

A little math:

6h = 1 level (6h playtime a week) => 4 level a month ~> 1 year to reach level cap

Then then casual player can start another character or buy a expansion pack.

Hardcore Server:

Make it as hard as possible to level up.

You could add some hardcore server only epic items too.

----------------------------------

I have a strong feeling thats a good idea. (sounds like: i have a dream... )

The most taxing part is probably to implement the character server move tools but

after that all will be happy and you get tons of longtime subscriber.

Send me a lifetime VG subscription in case this works out.

----------------------------------

ADD:

Obviously i forgot the Core Gamer (9-29h a week) in my first post.

So three server types needed to attract all kind of player.

Casual Server, Core Server, Hardcore Server.

Would be like a difficult level in offline games.

Something a MMORPG never done before and verant/sigil would write MMORPG history again.

no way man. if it was like that every one would just play on the casual server, even the hardcore. I'm at 28 and so far I haven't found it incredibly hard to level except stuff that keeps me from trying to level like harvesting and pvp. sounds like you need a good guild that sticks together.

I'm casual, but Vanguard offers me so much more then just to lvl,i havn't spend any time this week on my personal quests, did group with some people i met finished some of their quests which i already had done. Played every evening about 2/3hours, crafting, harvesting, and lots and lots of exploring, i could not get out of your text if your more into pvp or what your playstyle is like so then i would understand the need to lvl as you are in competition against others. Would rather see more rp realms. Already seeing i feel to many 40+ in the game, but thats their playstyle and they seem to have fun and thats what matters

it really doesnt pay to lvl up fast, if you do then wha are you gonna do, take one day lvl up, next day work on one of your proffessions or whatever etc harvesting, next day pvp and lvl, then back and fourth, that way you dont get bored with the game and you always have something to do..i made the mistake in wow, 2 weeks i was 60 working on 2nd character, i got bored and cancelled :(

so enjoy the game you pay for monthly, dont rush it

Those people raid after they cap out crafting and adventure levels and then after the raids are done because they have the best gear, sell their character.

I agree with your premise here but your Casual vs. Hardcore solution is very flawed.  First of all, no one would play on a Hardcore Server with the exception of maybe a few Masochists (actually that may be VSOH's Player base); but I digress.

I actually think you have it somewhat wrong.  I think Hardcore are all about the end game and raiding therefore, leveling is not something they like.  The people who want a slow leveling curve do not like competition and want the leveling curve to be slow so that more people are in their level range while they do that crafting and the card game.

The problem is defining a hardcore and casual Gamer.  I don't think it can be defined.  In the context of a MMORPG Hardcores are known as people with no life and a lot of free time.  That is because that is what is required by these games, especially the tedious grindfest that is Vanguard.  These people typically are more competitive types of people.  They are people who would have been star athletes but physically were not able to so they use their minds to compete.

I would guess the people who want the slow leveling are much older, retired-age types who like to plant flowers and take life slow in general.  Therefore, if we went with your proposition I think you would see the reverse situation.  Again Casual does not mean fast leveling, easy content, and other such nonsense.  It is true that Vanguard's XP curve is simply too slow but they don't need to up it up as much as you are stating in your post.

I would say this: Those with a good and succesfull life, job/friends/relationships will most likely like Vanguard (if they are into the mmorpg genre, you know it takes patients), Those that wanted Vanguard to become their life are those we see here bashing the game because they are so incredible disappointed in the way their life turned out to be

Some decent ideas.... you should post them on the official forums

    Oh, that's right...nm....

Anywho, put them up over at SilkyVenom...the devs seem to read them from time to time. I doubt they spend a moment here at MMORPG.com.......
