How customizable are the characters? I looked at their site and saw a character list, are these races/nations or are these THE characters you can play as?

About 6 or 7 different hair styles which seem to just change the color, 5 or 6 different faces that change just a little and 2 different starting clothes.
There are three nations to choose from at the start. At character level 10 each character type can choose one of three jobs. You get to choose another job at level 50 (at level 50 some classes have more than one choice. Some, like Holy Warriors, only have one choice).
As for having control over how your character looks, there is not very much you can choose from. It would be nice if the offered an array of faces, hair styles, clothing colors. They currently do not.
