Didn't check the link, but I'm assuming Beta 2 will patch into open beta.  My open beta account name is listed in my beta client when I log in.  If you are already in beta it will probably be an update, so the client should be good.

    I think.

edit: that link might be an application to the beta that ends in 2 days as well as the upcoming open for people without the pre-order code.  If you have a code already - log into your Turbine account and input your Open Beta code into your subscriptions, it might have a link to the client from there.  Either way you will have to go through that step to play.

That I'm not sure about as I've been in beta for a while and haven't had to look at the application process for open beta (have my key).

I'd think it would be a matter of applying through the same link, but if he wants to be sure he might want to search the LOTRO main site boards for a direct quote.

If you have the preorder DVD you can install that. It has the high res client, otherwise you can use the beta download.

You really want to see LOTRO with the high res client if possible.

You have to preorder the game to play in "Open beta". It is more like a preorder beta.

In the states you can pick up a preorder DVD for $10 at BestBuy or other stores.

There is a general open beta for non-preorders starting April 6th, but they don't get to keep their characters as founders do.
