Iran kidnaps 15 UK troops

viadiviadi Member Posts: 816

Well, I think this time Iran has gone too far. Everyone here knows I'm dead set on Peace and hate wars but is it just me or do we need to send a clear massage to Iran. I'm not talking about a response like the Israeli one last year but a measured attack to show were not going to accept this.

Iran is playing war games by doing this it’s trying to test the resolve of comments made by the UK and US (prolly more from the USA) about Iran staying out of our way. The news here is playing this down but lets be honest here this is a dangerous move by Tehran

"But Tehran said it had made a "firm protest" about an "illegal entry" into Iranian waters by the navy personnel."

Who the hell do they think they are?

That's like a little boy flushing his dad's whole carton cigarettes because he learned in school they were bad. The little boy is going to get whooped.

Well, we're all likely to be biased toward the UK. But you do have to ask yourself, what were we doing in Iranian water? If we were there, then tbh I think they have every right to take the soldiers prisoner (if they were there without permission).

Our governments are doing their level best to spin this to look as though our troops were unfairly, unexpectedly 'kidnapped', when the truth of the matter could be that we were very much in the wrong.

Either way, the US has been looking for an excuse to flatten Iran for ages now, I'm sure this won't hinder their plans.

This stuff happens all the time. The North Koreans grabbed the Pueblo when it crossed into "their" waters, the Cambodians did the same during the Ford administration to a US ship, the North Koreans shot down a US helicopter that crossed into North Korea in the late 1970's, the Soviets shot down a US spy plane (Powers), and just a few years ago the Chinese grabbed a US spy plane. Oh, forgot to mention some US troops that took a wrong turn in Yugoslavia and got picked up for trespassing.

It's just part of the game.

When I was in the army, one of my buddies, a Captain, would take his unit out every now and then at night to move the markers on the German/Czech border a few feet back into the Czech Republic. The Czechs would then come out, spend days surveying the border, and move the markers back.  Then he'd get orders to do it again.

Mind games occur all the time.

They will send them back after they get sick of their accent, which should be any moment now.

That's precisely why it will happen within the next few months...ALL presidential hopefuls are singing "Death to Iran".

Media will clearly have a western bias on this one. Most likely the brits have made a mistake and where somewhere they shouldn't be.. Iranian waters. They will probably never admit it. Or the Iranians made a mistake and caught the brits outside their border.

The fact is that the tension between the west and Iran is high. What would the UK and or the US do if there where 15 Iranian soldiers in a small boat in or just outside their border?

Haha, I'm sure you're right. So many people hate my very British accent.

Yeah, why not just expand this war even further.  I'm sure most people feel it hasn't cost us enough in blood and treasure already.  Let's go for broke.

You know what bothers me the most about all this though?  The fact that myself as an American can't bring myself to believe in my government anymore.  I don't trust it.  And it's gotten to the point that every little thing I hear that comes out of D.C. or even from my own state elected officials is put through scrutiny and suspicion by me.  I'm tired of feeling that way.  I know that we should be wary of government and vigilant as well, but it's gotten to an extreme that is completely unacceptable by any measure.  It's almost like elected officials lose their minds once they get into power in this country.  And since we keep sending the same two jacked up parties back into power, they both know it's just a matter of waiting a couple of years if they lose to get back where they were.  A political dosido that hurts nothing but the people who hand them the controls!

The first thing I think of are things like the Gulf of Tonkin when I hear stuff like this.  We were lied to then and we've been lied to today.  It's so frustrating to know that mankind is this deceitful and power mad still.  When are we going to grow up.

The U.S. upon installment was the greatest chance this world had at seeing a nation grow, prosper, and lead by example.  But instead we grew into another power hungry behemoth losing sight of what really matters.

Can we please have another Thomas Jefferson come along?  Meh, even if we did I'm sure he would be called a dumb ass by today's standards.  Nobody cares about the things he stood for anymore.

Yeah, just what we need.  Another Texas.

So that we can have forced inoculations on school aged girls by executive order of it's governor and then total disregard by it's governor for kids in the states care who are being raped (ala, the latest Texas Youth Commission).  What a wonderful world it would be to have another government out to overpower and disregard it's citizens!  And what better person to put it in place than a former Texas Governor.

I think British Petroleum wants a piece of the pie too, that's why it was British troops that got themselves grabbed. One thing that map does perfectly illistrate is all the undeveloped beach front property available in Iran.

Personally, I believe the best way to defend the US is to immediately pull out of Iraq. We know the Shiite Iranians will immediately go in, followed closely by the Sunni Syrians, Turks, Jordanians, and Saudis. There will be this massive orgy of killing and hate. They will be so busy with each other over what is the proper method to bow toward Mecca that they will forget all about us. After all, history is on our side, they have been doing it for a thousand years. Before that they did it for other reasons. Why are we assuming the role of preventing them from achieving their destiny?

As to the oil, they will still bring it out of the ground and sell it to us. They will need the cash to buy all those pretty weapons we make.

Honestly, if Jefferson were to be here today and run for President, he would be last in the race.  Both the Republican's and the Democrat's would squash him.  Neither of those parties or their followers care much about his message anymore.  They've learned to use government as a tool and they have no intention of giving up that power and authority.  And the weak minded voters from both parties have no intentions of taking the power away from them.

I've never trusted this government and I never will. It has evolved into a fascist dictatorship - a police super state - and the American people are to blame!

As for another Thomas Jefferson...HA!...those kinda people are long gone brother.

We're still here.  We're just shrinking in number.

    "WE" huh?

And since when has our votes counted? Ever heard of the Electorial College? Why don't you post a link to it.

The US belongs to big business, no matter what side of the isle you belong (appeals to you the most).

The US is doomed. I give it another 50 years.

50 years is very generous nakedone...I give it 'til the end of this year!

i predict that Dubya will declare martial law before the end of this year.

I'm being serious. I would explain but you know how long walls of text go unread.

    So was I.

I'm pretty sure we're on the same page, but please share your thoughts...we might not have free speech by years end.

That's the problem, we don't have free speech.

I'll post my thoughts in a new thread (since I think I've hijacked this thread enough). But something tells me, it will be deleted or something. Defanately flamed.

I'm ignorant on this one, sorry. Aren't the boundaries in those waters a little hazy? It sounded to me like those troops were baited into that situation. Keep in mind I have no agenda on the whole matter, which is why I was asking instead of stating, so if someone could roll out the details of it all it would be much appreciated.

Never give up and never surrender!
