I love this game as well as others, however it says this when you go to play (DONT FORGET ABOUT YOUR FAMILY, YOUR FRIENDS, YOUR SCHOOl, OR YOUR WORK, HOW CAN YOU NOT EXPLAINS BELOW).
The annoying part of this game is that once you are like level 50 + or so you cannot get a party for horus and hours, I know you can make your own, and ect, but sometimes there arent just enough people to make it or anything. One time I waited 9 hours in front of my pc screen, and I did not get any group for over 9 hours straight, and its anooying, I wish Final Fantasy XI would get a bit a of solo play so you make 50% of what you do in a party killing reg monsters, so you can do something while u wait, and ect. I know beast masters can solo but I hate beast masters, I mean I hate playing that class myself, Id rather solo my blm, or my pld, or ect. If I can find a group, honestly its annoying having to be in a group of 6 all time to properly level, because you cant find good group, or there arent the people to make one. Now what about people who have jobs and go to work 8:00 AM, and get off work around 4:00 Pm or later then rush to their game to try to get a group have to wait 3 hours to get one or try making one because there arent the right people to make one then its 7:00 pm, or sometimes longer than that.
Maybe its just my server that has this problem because every since that free server switch thing it has been hard getting groups, the thing where you switch servers they offered it last year or year before or something.
Anyways also look at mages waiting for mana is just too annoying.

that right there is one of the primary reasons I quit playing FFXI. It's a fact of life when it comes to that game though. You can try to get innovative and find ways to level solo, or with fewer people, but it won't be terribly fast going.
The important thing to remember, though, is that if the game is more of a chore than it is fun, or you don't feel that the stuff you do when you have a party is worth the time spent to get it, or the difficulties of the bad parties you get every so often, then don't play. The purpose of a game is, after all, to have fun, so if it's no longer fun for you, I'd say it's time to move on =/

Yeah I have moved on I play many other mmos besides this used to play lineage 2 Play NC ruined it, world of warcraft I play now, but not sure its worthit anymore due to the fact too many people become addicts to it, and if not that it takes months on months on months to get top epic armor, and lots of dungeons, instances, and raids you get nothing for sometimes, unless you get lucky, and also that takes up a lot of real life times its self. Honestly it seems all todays mmos really suck, although they are good, you have the secondary economy, you also have people that dont work together, and game companys that dont care who dies who lives as long as they make their profit they dont care or warn people them selves on boxes you buy. Honestly wow is great as the same as Final fantasy XI is, the same as RF online, ect. But eve online takes hours worthless time before you can even get to the fun part of the game its boring, same with Finfal Fantasy XI now, and world of warcraft is fun, but I mean look at whats happening game addiction is killing people and ect. I mean The 4th Comming used to be great, even though bad graphics but got ruined. Dont get me wrong I love how sony, and ect. they do great jobs on their games, but the addiction needs to stop, it needs to be made easier on everyone, where you still have to work for it, but so you wont have to play 24/7 just to get what you want.

Me I think game companies should write that the game may cuase addiction on the box, and provide detail on a flap of the box also saying EX. Note This game may cause addiction on ESRB, and a seperate note that says This game may take a long time to obtain top and best gear in the game like 3-4 months play time or what ever so people can narrow it down before they buy, but they dont care as long as the developers get to sit in an airconditioned room all day long, program a new patch, ect, and just sit there developing, getting fat eating pizza ect. all they care about is your money $ I pay $20 a month for ffxi mules and characters, but even $9.99 X over 1 million people you get the idea not counting 2nd chars tetra masters, and all other mmorpgs.
If I owned my own server ID come up with an idea to keep people playing, but keep people from killing themselves due to addition, Reset game ecnomics every 6 months to a year, make all items sell able/ trade able it also helps with both matters, ect.
Honestly the only MMO I had fun and actually got a laugh in was older games like The 4TH Comming, but FFXI, EVE Online, World Of Warcraft, ect. I dont really have fun in them or laugh I just play them trying to get best pvp gear and own everyone. There seems to be no point to mmorpgs these days the way they are making them.

Then the main issue: First you love it, then you don't. What are we supposed to believe? I'll probably offend you by saying it, but your statements are just silly.
I agree in SOME of your issues about getting parties, but when I read your posts, one thing stands VERY clear to me: This is NOT your kind of game, so why do you play it?
Lots of weird stuff from a person paying for 7 mules while most have 1. (7 is the amount of mules if you pay $20/month.)

Well actually Final Fantasy XI online is my type of game as long as you can get a group that doesnt take hours upon hours upon hours of waiting to make one. However There are classes I dont like in the game BLM, PLD, THF, are good, If there was only a way to lower down the wait time between 30 mins - 1hr like it used to be it would be great.
As far as Final Fantasy X X-21 XII, ect. Yes I have played all the ones I mentioned above, but the other ones like Final Fantasy 7, and ect. I dont have a copy of those yet.
7 Mules, well I collected lots of items in the game for crafting, ect.
