Brad was never saying buy better PC's. You got to remember when they switched publishers and SOE took over they cut their money and the game was forced to release mega early as even as late as November 2006 they were saying Q4 07. So the graphics were made for the average rig then.
I'm pretty sure my computer will be better than average even in Q4 07, and although it runs the game, I wouldn't say it runs it well now. So assuming that my great computer today will only be average then, I still am not seeing it.
E6600, 8800GTX, 2 Gigs RAM, Raptor 10000 HD, XP Pro will run the game okay, but just okay.
EQ2 had similar problems when it was released, although Vanguards is hyped to be much higher a problem then most think. On my mid range machine I can run it at between 27 and 36 frames on average. Which is acceptable to me. PC gaming can be expensive, more expensive then consoles since you have to upgrade more. Maybe some of you need to think about upgrading... However back to the topic of this post, I'm glad to see how much has been fixed since release, heh a few more patches and I might think about renewing my subscription
Tried: Vanguard, UO, Rappelz, Archlord, RF Online, SWG, WAR, Ryzom, Anarchy Online, AC, APB, STO, Perfect World, Black Prophecy...
Played: EQ,EQII, Lineage, Lineage 2, GW, EVE Online, AoC, DoAC, iRO, AC2, WoW, SWTOR, Runes of Magic, Allods, Rift.. Currently Playing: Tera
You have succeeded in sounding dumb, or atleast ignorant.
You are Dumb and most definately ignorant.
And lastly, thank you for replying to my post. Fortunately, I pride myself in the fact I dont need to resort to personal insults to complete a valid arguement.
ummm...I believe BlackMaiden was replying in a manner appropriate to your original personal insult. And then you have the gaul to say that you "pride yourself in the fact that you don't need to resort to personal insults...". I'm sorry - you started it - it's there in black and white.
Biggest performace boost I got was switching from one 7200 rpm Hard Drive to two 10k rpm Raptor drives and stripping them (Raid)... My lag / stuttering has drop a lot... I would say at least 70% less lag and stuttering...
Example: In the Arena near Stradden, when I looted the coins I would get a good 2-3 second lag for each coin i looted.. since switching hard drives I get none... I think fast hard drives are as important as a good graphics card in this game... I would imagine just raiding two 7200 rpm drives would see a good improvement...
As far as the required specs on the side of the Vanguard Game box goes, EVERY game I've every bought has had bogus information on the side of the box... It's the marketing departments way of selling the game to people who really dont have fast enough computers to play it... So Vanguard is not the only one guilty of this... Anyone who has been playing games for awhile should know not to go by what it says on the box...
