In FFXI does gardening still work the same?

I used to garden for my gil in FFXI.  Is the gardening system the same as it was in 2005?

From what i hear it is, but the economy is over run by RTMs its not even worth it. You are better of doing NMs or something.

RMT's are too lazy to do anything like gardening.They setup shop and usually use bots/scripted programs,either to fish or camp NM's.There not going to spend time to farm cuttings,then spend more time to garden them because this is netting no profit for a very long time.RMT don't like to spend any gil at all,wich is why they are often wearing very crap gear at any level,so there not about to buy pots,and spend time farming items to plant such as grain seeds for rice.This is again why they instead scoop up guild items that are in demand,far easier and faster however this does involve spending gil wich they don't like to do.

Gardening won't yield the high rewards it did in the past few years however with a few mules and the right product you can still maintain a living.Fishing seems to be the highest reward because they sell fast and steady stuff like sushi/black sole/nebonomite ect ect.

Well i used to grow ores, such as dark ore and fire ore, I didnt make a ton of gil but 400k monthly wasnt bad considering I didnt have to waste my time farming

Yes this is what i do also.I have 4 mules 2 of wich are cuttings>saps and the other 2 are saps>ores.I tend to stick to dark ores because on a failure ill still get several persikos wich sell decent and are good to keep.I usually get 5 ores from 2 mules netting around 900k.After you get too many cuttings/saplings then you can use 3 mules to grow ores or even all 4.At one time i had 5 growing ores.Supplement income selling yag drinks/sushi and arrows/bolts/sheihi.
