I purchased Vanguard with a gift card, thinking it might be worth playing. Turned out after trying it wasnt for me. Ok no big deal right, ive played a million games i didnt like so I canceled my account (or so i thought) using the features provided by SOE station.
Uninstalled the game and moved on with my life. Fast forward a month later and I notice my CC is being billed........
Ok maybe i did something wrong, so I quickly go back to the website and log in to my account. Thats where I see its still listed as "Active" so I use the /cancel feature again to no avail. You get a page that says you "canceled" but it doesnt change your CC status with Vanguard so it leads you to think your canceled but are in fact not......
Ok so you cant cancel with the website and it lies and leads you into thinking you can and/or did. Sounds like Fraud to me?
Next after searching for customer service you find that the number is a TOLL charge? To cancel something you never wanted to start with? Then your charged to listen to a recording tell you they are closed and to call back during PST hours mon-fri.
Great! well its FRI night im pissed and ive been worked by SOE twice today with the promise of geting screwed with the phone bill again on monday. YaY!
Needless to say ill be contacting my bank to report this fraud, ill update this post after I talk to SOE customer service to see how they "handle it".

I was planing on contacting my bank ASAP, but I should also contact law enforcement? Thats ganna come out really awkward. "Excuse me mr. officer but Sony Online riped me off for 14$ id like to file a report"
This is the type of thing you expect from small time scams, not a large company like Sony. What a nightmare.

You file a complaint to the FTC (Federal Trade Comission), if you don't get refunded.

Just don't get run over you because some company thinks it can.
Sorry, link should work now.
Basically Sigil gets to say "Tell SOE, that's not our problem". SOE gets to tell you "You may not discuss account issues on the forums" thereby preventing people to become informed of the problem except through threads like this.

Life sucks, buy a helmet.
Ganna repost this on other sites to get the "word" out since there seems to be a cover up.
This issue is an epidemic with old time station accounts. My station account is four or more years old and SOE has changed something with cancellation that requires you to have a secret question on your account before you can cancel. Once I added a secret question to my profile I could finally cancel VG. I got a real cancellation email, and an update to my account status (look for non-recurring or cancelled under billing method IIRC) 30 seconds later.
SOE cs seems to know nothing about this bug in the system as my four CS emails indicate quite clearly. It's little wonder Sigil stated they had few cancellations a while ago, anyone with an older station account who cancelled got billed anyway.
To summarize, if you want to cancel today, add a secret question to your station account then cancel.
i had this problem once .. and when i got ahold of someone on their 800 number i told them that not only had i cancelled but that i had cancelled even farther back then i really did .. and they refunded me for two months .. i figured they owed me for their crappy system consuming my time .. since i would normally be paying to consume their product .. fair is fair i spose
needless to say if you get ahold of a customer serv rep they will/should refund you
I was so happy that all their employee's got fired, they deserved it .. for making this terd.
Never be afraid of choices. More choices are always good things.
Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.
