Well - finally got into game yesterday after waiting a few days for game to download (did it in about 4 half hour sessions
due to other gaming commitments).
I haven't progressed that far into the game, but what i have seen so far has been quite promising.
Game play - feels a little wierd at first, but easy to adjust to. Is some Lag in towns, but not enough to cause an issue with
playability. Graphics - OMG, almost a carbon copy of those in the late Asherons Call 2 (think the models of buildings are the same )
I knew they were using the same/almost identical engine, and is pretty easy to see.
Story - Haven't progressed far like i said, so I wont comment much on this. What I have done so far has seemed dry in places -
not alot of exciting things happening (collect X of this, kill Y of that, Speak to <name>).
From what I have seen so far, I am not at the moment going to Pre-Order - but I ahve a while to change my mind

Even when the pushed the release back til spring they didn't even email me to say that the game would be mailed in march-april.
Has any1 else pre-ordered from gamestop and heard something??
Cos I am getting pretty annoyed"

The only way you could be playing now is if you had pre-ordered already, and the comment about the graphics being like AC2 makes me wonder if you had ever played EITHER game, since there are no similarities whatsoever - not even CLOSE. Really, that makes this whole post sound like just another Turbine hater spreading more BS. Why do you people even bother, do you really have nothing better to do with your life then to come spam lame BS about games you aren't even playing?
When scary things get scared, that's bad...
I even think Fileplanet offered you a beta key to go with your beta download...
So, no you really didn't have to preorder to be in beta. Oh you preorder to be able to betatest it 6 days earlier, well...
(A beta key that worked right away)
I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

wow - that's a post i remember making
but tell me - what relevance does it have to the OP?? um - none i believe
Have i pre-ordered to play now?? nope - i got an email from codemasters on wed / thurs giving me the beta key.
I have played AC2 - played it for almost 2 years. I then ask you the question(not the quoted poster, another reply) whether you have played both - the building models are so similar that they look like duplicates - FACT (not they are, they LOOK like).
Character movement, and actions (e.g sitting) are EXACTLY the same as in AC2.
Turbine hater?? nah - I don't hate them.
Spreading BS?? nope - the only BS being spread is yours.
Turn it into a flame post all you like - wont change any opinions.
I had a bad opinion of LOTRO until I hit level 15, and then I changed my mind.
The game gets better the more you play. Crafting still is a bit basic, but it has promise.
I miss DAoC

They are still in Closed Beta I think . He is not in open beta .
I like pie !
Over all if I had to sum up my first impressions in one word, it would have to be boring.
The Shire is extensive, and VERY different. The Archet "graduation" instanced quest is unlike anything I've ever seen. It is not at all a standard quest.
Bree is indeed your standard medieval town; but the Barrow Downs and Old Forest, both very close to Bree, have no counterpart I've ever heard of.
Delivering food, and having to dodge hungry hobbits on the way, or re-establishing the fast mail and dodging nosy hobbits... or the escort quests. Nothing like kill x of those and run y to z quests, although there are those too of course.
Game runs well on older machines; looks good, has an extraordinary preorder offer, but above all is one very well integrated whole. Drawbacks? Economy is still being adjusted, as was xp. XP/difficulty seems good now though. Economy is too tight for many players, but data are being gathered, and another adjustment (or two) due soon.
The EU beta is still going for another week, and open not just for pre-orders.
