[POLL] Most promising Q2 game.

skiziskizi Member Posts: 120
What in your opinion will be the most promising game for this quarter?

Will it be LOTRO, a simple, yet interesting story based MMO that promises players a new PvP system. Though a bit repetitive and "clone" like, it is definitely going to be a seller...even if it's just for the name.

Or maybe Gods and Heroes, a Rome style MMO that offers both PvE and PvP content for the casual and hardcore plasyers alike. They also offer a unique god system that allows you to choose your god and I guess, pray to them? Though it "sounds" good, will the features they promise really be implemented with the players in mind?

Or how about Chronicles of Spellborn, a game with pretty graphics and a new combat system that allows the player access to only the skills he or she has on their bar at a certain time. Meaning you choose the skills you want, put them on your hotbar(I guess the more you level the more skill you can equip) and go out of town to kill something. But will the game have the community that can keep it going? Is the card system a good idea or just another way of saying " spam 123, mob dead, spam 123, mob dead".

Or maybe it will be Pirates of the Burning Sea, another unique game that instead of running around killing mobs, you...uhh.. are a captain of a ship that goes around killing mobs. Great idea with the ship idea, it allows the player to go anywhere he or she wants, but will it be worth it? Will they make the world too big and instead of sailing the seas, you just press num lock, grab more coffee and come back in 15 minutes? I don't know, I'm just asking the questions.

Who will take the prize and become "The best MMO of Q2"??!!??!!??

You decide!!!

(Oh and I know there are 2 other threads about this, but this is a POLL)

(And no, this is not another April Fools day joke...)

(Yes I realized I spelled opinion wrong on the poll, I don't know how to edit them )

Gods and Heroes over here too. Love the idea of like the first-person Medieval Total war style of war fighting.

Also, it's about time someone made a good roman era MMO.

I voted TCoS. Hoping it releases in Q2.

Then again, I would be willing to lay a bet that at least some of  the games mentioned will be postponed until later in the year. The only cert to be released seems to be LotRO.

My vote went for TCoS. Great to see I'm not the only one ;)

Been following it for a long time and yet hasn't let me down. Just hope they are not postponing any further.

I am just so sick and tired of fantasy that anything without elves or orcs will be a nice change.

Torn between Pirates of the Burning Sea and Chronicles of Spellborn, wish I could vote for them both. It's gonna come down to which one releases first.

    Gods and Heroes,

Should be a refreshing change in content and mechanics

Pirates of the Burning Sea, and Chronicles of Spellborn are what I'm waiting for...  not too intereste in the movie spinoffs.  That trend in the gaming industry is getting to be a fair bit rediculous.

Gods & Heroes for me.  I love the setting, and I think the gameplay seems far more innovative than the others.

Spellborn will probably not suck, but it has a few features I find distasteful.  I think the races are dumb, and I am skeptical that they are bringing anything new to the table in terms of gameplay.

I'll be taking a look-see at the games for sure.  I'd have to say LOTRO without doubt will be the most *popular* one released in Q2, but the others are worth a look at least.  I still think the main action in 2007 is coming at the end of the year when AoC and WAR are slated for release.

The Chronicles of Spellborn, the environment, the characters, it have a very unique touch equipped with a very promising combat system. I vote for TCoS.

All canceled. Waiting on Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning.

AoC and WAR aren't scheduled for Q2 but I am looking forward to seeing how they turn out.  PotBS and TCoS both seem to be ones to watch.  Although LotRO looks great and is well done and has very shiny bits, it was difficult to stay interested even during beta.  It just didn't keep me motivated at all.  For such a nice looking game, the combat and content felt very meh to me.  I chose PotBS because, well... you know... pirates!

Most promising as in potential to do the best... Then Lord Of the Rings Online.

Most promising as in bringing new ideas and cool stuff to the genre... Then TCoS.

    Currently playing:
LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)

    Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

You aren't, the game's name to cater to Western tastes is Sword of the New World. Still Sword of the New World doesn't count because it is planned to release in June which is Q3.

I can't vote without knowing what potbs offers and that skimpy summary doesn't help because I can see things being left out in th other summarries.

As it stands GnH will be the most promising at launch because it will be squad based combat with your main character as a true leader and hero among the group. It's setting appeals to the kid in me the most since I used to soak up greek mythology like a sponge. The animations are simply amazing.

But as time progresses if they implement all the things they planned (more importantly House vs House shard conquests and reputation system) then TCoS will crush a lot of games to come as well as existing games.
As mentioned in a gamasutra article the game mechnanics in mmos can be very boring. Moving away from point and click auto attack combat to fps style combat will make the game more interactive. Allowng players to change the world as individuals, guilds and houses makes the world feel more alive than the modern mos which have ignored the precedence of eariler mmos and muds where the world ca be changed. Creating different objectives for the same quest area based on the house you belong to will put players into the position of choosing which objectives are more important the agenda of their house or the agenda of their friends outside of the house.
