Possibly the Best Beta Ever

I have been fortunate enough to participate in the Beta of many MMOGs. Included among them are Everquest, Anarchy Online, Dark Age of Camelot, Earth and Beyond, Eve Online, Asheron's Call 2, Horizons and now City of Heroes. Hands down the Cryptic Studios team and their partners at NCSoft have put together the most polished and professionally run beta I have experienced. There was constant communication from Cryptic Developers and the operations folks at NCSoft with the beta participants. There were weekly objectives, in game feedback mechanisms and evidence of where tester input helped to effect changes to the game.

Consequently, whether you may feel this is your style of game or not, expect City of Heroes launch to be very stable, mostly lag and bug free and with significantly more content than some of the recently released titles have had. Should this same level of involvement from Cryptic and NCSoft continue through the life of the game, I would expect it to grow into a very robust title that will certainly please comic book fans the world over as well as gamers that are looking for something different from the MMOG fantasy mosh-pit.
