If you were referring to the link that I posted last night, I only posted it because there might be a possibility of a new progression server coming out soon. I'm aware of the existing servers, and even played on them up until Luclin came out (had a blast up to then.) Also, the content was not only unlocked due to goals being completed but also from a set time lock that the server mods initially created, it just wasn't nearly long enough in my honest opinion.

Glad to see you're both as excited as I am to start playing agian, Healz and Neschria =). I actually still have the titanium edition installed on my comp, believe it or not, but I haven't made the step on re-subscribing yet.

So which server were you thinking of going with Healz? Since they still haven't announced anything about new servers, I'm doubtful that it will happen very soon =/. If they were going to put one out than it'd most likely be along with the newest anniversary edition, which mean's they probably would have mentioned it by now. Who know's though, maybe we'll get a miracle hehe.

Anyway, just let me know which server you decide to go with. Maybe the combine/sleeper? The population is probably pretty steady with the merge and there is still content that hasn't been opened so it's not quite as overwhelming. Just a thought though =P.

We are on the Combine and Tribunal right now. =D

I think we are going to stick with the Tribunal Server, if you want to join us and create a new guy.   We would love to have you with us! Right now we are just fooling around and creating guys and stuff like that because we are hoping for a new server. Hehe.

I only have one account active right now, not sure if I will make a second.

I hope for a new server so badly!  LOL.

No, i like all the new improvements...

I have just returned after leaving before Luclin to play DAoC.

I would just like them to Merge all the servers together b/c it seems a little dead....

Give some reason to go back to those old zones... yeah.

Over the last year and a half (and previously), I have gone back and tried old characters and made new ones.  I think the dividing line for me in terms of what began the slide down for EQ was the Bazzar.  Just nuked the E-Commons Tunnel trade area.  That to me was one of the greatest 'player-made' content marks ever seen, and they just killed it in one fell swoop.  And in so doing, made Plat-Farming even more profitable for the farmers.

Well, I suppose I could go for a Classic up to, and including, Luclin.  But, I would also really be happy with a pre-Luclin Classic server.  And that whole business about how they cannot do it?  Nonsense.  How can you have a 'Progression Server' that does not include Kunark and say you cannot have a 'Classic' server.  Nonsense.  Sure, it would not be 100% Classic.  But at least it would not have all that PoP junk, nor all the junk that came after it.

    So, yeah, I would play.

But only if the server was assured not to progress past Luclin.

    Ever.

    Good Hunting

    I agree.

However, as one person suggested, instances for a number of raids such as the Dragons.

I think this would be very important.  My EQ account goes inactive on May 4th (and I only have the expansions up to the disaster and zerg-raid/guild expansion GoD) so I am not sure what to do.

SOE is remarkably foolish, although a very easy target of criticism, people want to give it money and it refuses.  I cannot believe that anyone with an economics or MBA-background works at SOE.  They are not supplying their demand.  It is seemingly typical of this organization to not satisfy its goose that lays the golden egg.

Edit: the progression servers were a complete disaster, believe me, and they had to recently merge the two servers as a result of everyone quitting (not ironically at the release of the zerg-guild/raid expansion GoD).  A progression server that is fixed release and remains Pre-POP for as long as possible is in order.

    Expansion                        Time (months)

    Classic                                3

    Kunark                                 3

    Velious                                 4

    Luclin                                    5

I agree game lost some of its appeal when that and the trade channel came along. But wouldn't go back to an old server now. I've been there, done that, enjoyed it and now the game has aged and changed and I've moved on.

Fundamentally, EQ 1 is a different game from the glorious magic that we all remember.

We are telling SOE we will give them our hard-earned money to open an expansion that server Pre-PoP (or Pre-Luclin for some) as long as possible.  However, they release a zerg-guild/raid progression serve that encouraged the use of hacking and griefing.

The issue really lies I think with a lack of intelligent, business-sense/education at SOE; that is just my theory.

Edit:  intelligent use of instances would also be in order.

It would take a lot for me to come back.  They would basically have to revert the entire game back to pre-Velious, preferably pre-Kunark.  I'm talking old school Cazic Thule zone layout where the lizards drop rubicite armor, i'm talking the Froglok Assassin still dropping the pre-nerf Guise of the Deceiver.  It would have to be PVP.  Something like this will probaly never happen, I don't know why they can't just release drastic servers like this, I guarentee you something like this would be more popular than the "progression" servers, you'd probaly need multiple servers.  I just want all of the old zones to be filled up again, I don't even want Kunark because that drastically reduced the populations of old servers.

Please, NO INSTANCES, solve these problems with PvP.

    Absolutely...........

Loved the game pre luclin and hated it after.

Critical thinking is a desire to seek, patience to doubt, fondness to meditate, slowness to assert, readiness to consider, carefulness to dispose and set in order; and hatred for every kind of imposture.

It is the one, among many and varied, issues I had with Kunark.

I disliked the expansions as these enormous albeit newly discovered continents.  I would have preferred building on the platform that already exist PRIOR to adding newly discovered continents.  However, that is my preference.

    Good discussion.

However, I must say that I think instances would help a great deal.
