Anyone else getting complete lockups?

I don't know if its the client or my system. Every 3 or so hours my client completely locks up, and I have to get luck I ctl+alt+dlt in time to catch it otherwise it causes my comp to crash.

None of the circle of people I play with have had this happening to them, and I can't figure out what is wrong with my comp since I've run everything and its going fine so I can only blame it on the game, but would like to know if any others have experienced it.

I myself haven't experienced it, but I did notice that from today's patch notes, they are addressing some problems.  Hopefully it will take care of yours:

    Patch Notes: April 3, 2007

Along with some back-end, server-side changes which are transparent to the players, the following changes have been made in the April 3rd patch:

    • The issue of the fog-of-war reappearing on maps has been fixed!
    • Players running Windows Vista should find performance and stability has increased and problems decreased. More fixes are in the works.
    • More fixes to address memory leaks and crashes.
    • Collection/Kill quests are now properly added to the Quest Tracker upon advancing.
    • In 800x600 resolution, the Quest Log no longer appears offscreen.
    • By popular request, Gondorians now have the option for grey eyes at character creation.

  • If they are fixing memory leaks then it will fix my problem.

O goody, a dev team that listens to its /bug!

Thanks for finding that tidbit there Jon. Can't wait till they patch this baby up, and get it going.

I haven't had one crash or bug since I started open beta.  What is your hardware spec?  Also though, if it is occuring after a span of time  it could be some kind of memory leak in the code in conjuction with your settings.  Are you using default/auto detect  video and audio settings?  If not try using those and see if it happens again - then add one change at a time to the settings and try it  to see if you can pinpoint the cause.  Just a suggestion.

edit: I hadn't seen the other patch post prior to writing this... sounds like they are nailing down memory leaks so hopefully it will fix it for you.

    Welcome, Bob :)

One thing you'll find from Turbine's developement team... they certainly DO listen to the community.  I've been in beta since January and am amazed at how much they take their community to heart.  It's quite refreshing from some of the other companies in the MMO world.

    See you in Middle Earth!
