Read something a few months back about the games future....

A few months ago I read something about the future of DAOC and it talked about all these changes and additional server rulesets. I remember at the time I was very interested but can no longer seem to remember where I read it and what the exact details are. DAOC was not my first love in the MMO genre, but it remains my greatest. I left the game when Darkness Rising came out and havent seen the game since. I understand it has gone through some graphic changes and other minor tweaks. I am interested in coming back if and when these new ideas are implemented, but I cant seem to find this news anywhere. If anyone could refresh my memory or link me a spot where I can read about it I would be very appreciative. Thanks

For the additional server rulesets visit this place: http://www.camelotherald.com/article.php?id=65

Odd that the link I provided doesn't have any info about classic servers, here's other link just for that: http://support.darkageofcamelot.com/kb/article.php?id=794

I don't know if this is what you meant cos you said that you read about them two months ago but I'd recommend reading the patch notes anyway.

Funny thins is, seconds after I posted that I found exactly what I was looking for. I was refering to the "campaigns" idea on the servers, the every 6 months thing with a new campaign that leads up to some huge realm wide raid. Has that been implemented yet and if so how is it going?

I was reading some other posts and the thing I found out that shocked me was the fact that now on clustered servers you can switch characters between realms instantly witth no wait. When I stopped playing I think it was reduced from 8 hours to 30 mins. I thought 30 mins was bad enough, but wow instantly? Some poster was saying that people now will switch sides right in the middle of the battle to join whomever is winning so they get RPs regardless. Plus it seems pretty easy to spy and give info to the other realms about planned attacks, strategies and relic raids. Is this the kind of thing that is going on in this game now?? Please say it aint so!

Nothing like that, I haven't seen any spying about relics raid etc. and I haven't noticed that people change sides during battles. Only thing I've seen is that usually in BG's people leave the losing side and join the winning, it's not so common though. One thing is that everyone doesn't have lvl 50 char in other realm than their main.

The Campains are running atm, I haven't been very involved yet since I'm still exping up my character to 50.

Cross-realming aint that bad, atleast what I'v noticed. I would vote for a 30 min timer again since I don't like when peopel can switch to another realm to fast, it is not good for any realm.

I'm not sure about big-boy rvr, but in BGs it seems that people do switch to whichever side they feel is needed.  For some this means switching to take the CK for the xp, and for others it is whoever is doing well.  I have seen times when people log in their Alb and see only 3 of us there and big battles between hib and mid, so they switch to one of those.  I don't blame them and will probably set up something similar just for fun.  It gets boring when you are playing on the realm that has nobody there and the other 2 realms are having these great battles.
