Bounty Bay launches closed Beta. Here is another Pirate themed MMO coming to the market. Check out some details below.
Launching immediately, the closed beta test for Frogster's MMOG, Bounty Bay Online, will give gamers the chance to set course for the fifteenth century. As sailor, tradesman or pirate, players can amass fortunes on the seven seas, become notorious for their battle prowess and discover new lands.
Frogster and co-publisher Yusho are allowing a strictly limited selection of 1000 players to enter the beta version of Bounty Bay Online. Further on, the publisher and developer will extend the exclusive circle of admitted beta testers. Interested gamers can register on the English language website www.bountybayonline.com.
In due course, an open beta phase will give all players the chance to be captain on their own battle or trade ship. Frogster intends to release the English language version of Bounty Bay Online in Europe within the second quarter of 2007.

well VCo is getting patches too and is also translated, so i dont understand your argument... Its just as I say ... BBO is nothing more than VCO with monthly fee
BBO is Europe is operated by another company than in the US! The translation of BBO is much better - seems they have native speakers working for them on this issue:-) And the gamesetup itself is different and much more realistic. Regarding the different business model:
Differences between BBO and VCO!
A player who started with the German BBO version wanted to know what the differences between VCO and BBO were. Before he decided it was worth the money he was going to have to pay to play BBO, he decided to play a bit of VCO and find out for himself if it was really worth it.
In VCO there is no monthly fee, instead you have the option to buy point cards. With these points you can then buy different items and services in the game, which you get automatically with a BBO account (average 9,16 €/month).
A few examples of what he learned he would have to pay in points in order to get the same things he would get with BBO for free are as follows.
Bank safe deposit box:
In BBO you already start with a safe deposit box which you have to pay 100 points (3.89€) to open in VCO. In BBO you can expand a safe-deposit box with 6 extra slots once per month per account (per account, not per character) In VCO each expansion of a safe-deposit box costs 500 points (19.44€). In BBO it would take 30 months until you have all 180 slots free. The cost of all 30 months for his account would be 274.80€. In order to open all these slots alone would be 567.53€, or for the most inexpensive way possible 534.47€. So he realized in order to get all the safe-deposit box slots alone he would have to pay more than the 30 months for BBO.
Downgrading Skills to level 31 and forgetting stunt skills:
In BBO you can forget all your stunt skills from a skill in order to reapply them to a different stunt skill in that skill once per month per account for free, in VCO this option costs 300 points (11.66€). In BBO you can downgrade 1 skill to level 31 per account per month for free, this would cost 500 points (19.44€) in VCO.
Pet bait:
In BBO you can get pet bait by completing special quests which have been developed by Yusho, in VCO you will normally pay 200 points (7.77€)
Resource area passes:
In BBO you can get these resource passes by completing special quests developed by Yusho which can be completed every 48 hours, in VCO each ticket costs 60 points (2.33€). In order to get the same amount of tickets as is possible with BBO you would have to pay 900 points (34.98€)
Siege ships and statues:
In BBO, siege ships cost 10,000,000 to 15,000,000 silver coins, in VCO each one costs 600 points (23.32€). Statues cost 500,000 to 3,000,000 depending on the type. In VCO each statue costs 120 points (4.66€)
19.44€ (500 Points) < Expanding bank safe-deposit box
15.55€ (400 Points) < Downgrading 1 Skill (sometimes 300, sometimes 500)
7.77€ (200 Points) < 1 Pet bait – If you buy only 1 per month
9.32€ (240 Points) < 4 Resource area passes – If you buy only 1 per week
Total: 52.08€ (1340 Points)/month
Quote:
“52.08€ per month for roughly the same game content as you get with BBO. Therefore 9.16 per month is actually really cheap, even if you don’t use everything all the time. Now if you decide to use the city siege items with your guild, this will really make it worth your money, the siege ship alone costs more than an entire month subscription to BBO (23.32€)!”
hope this helps...
best wishes
