Now I bet that title made some people confused, but really this game said free at on point so I decide yesh, I'm gonna give er a try and boom pay elevendy billion dollars to play this game and I'm all WTF!? so I've got to say never trust this game.

    The OP may be referring to the brief period of open beta, where indeed L2 was free to play as NCSoft conducted their server stress tests. As for consting him a lot of money, /shrug ... if you're trying to solo your way through L2 then don't expect to progress in the game at the rate of organised groups/clans. Irrespective of which MMO's are not a race and there's no prize for first other than satisfaction and bragging rights.

    There are many vices which plague humanity and I guess if you want to spend money on L2 as opposed to some other consumable like cigarettes or booze than thats your choice... In L2 it just happens to be illegal, but hey whatever noone is going to feed you with a silver spoon forever ;)

    L2 had a 14 day free trial via MMORPG.com at some point not long ago. I got a key and then had to work so much until day 10 that I hardly got to play. It did inspire me to consider L2 and after I changed my mind on pre-ordering LoTRO... Well, here I am.  Maybe the OP saw a reference to that free trial somewhere and got confused. Maybe he saw a reference to illegal private servers elsewhere and mistakenly thought those free servers were the legit L2...

    Or, considering his sign up date and the content of his posts across the site, maybe he's just fishing for post count.

    Wow, OK. This game has not been free since Open Beta in March/April of 2004. They never have and never will advertise this game as free. Ever. Lineage 1 is still p2p and that's nearly 10 years old. The price of the game itself fluctuates, but it's been about $10 - $20 since early 2005. And they have never hidden the fact that they require you to buy both the game (serial code) and pay the monthly fee of $15.

    If you will go to www.lineage2.com, you will see a HUGE button on the bottom left side that says "New to Lineage II?" If you click on that, you will read:
