Never played swg before? no idea what it used be like? Never heard of the old system? Never followed the work of SOE? It might be a good game for you then, give it a try
Being a SWG veteran myself, I'd have to say the game now, is horrible compared to what it used to be like, but then again, so many hate SOE threads Im not gonna start a new one here hehe.
But yea give it a try if you've never played it before.. However if ya do have played it before, you're up for a surprise in changes, I'll promiss you.
It's a free trial, give it a shot. I did and rolled my free trial to a pay. Not as polished as COH/COV (my home) but I do enjoy the deeper depth it provides over COH/COV. Just remember to download the thing at night. Also, if it does not cough up a trial code there is a work around. Lastly, try to grind your way past 10 to get an idea of the Expertise system.
Dont worry about the people who gonna tell you no, because they hate the change. Try it out and see how you like it since you will be playing it not them. Make up your choice on you own.
People kept trying to tell me dont play it because of the change. Before the change i hated it but after the NGE i played it to see why people hate it so much , And I in up liking it.
So its best to play it to see if You like it. not if others like it.
Even if you enjoy the new system the lack of population is a killer for MMO's. I played at launch and loved the game, decided to take a break to try other MMO's but eventually ended up back in SWG and I still loved it and started the Jedi grind. After 8 months or so of working toward Jedi they dropped the NGE and chased most of the players away with the dumbing down of the game. I actually kept playing but it just didn't feel right after the changes so after a couple months of the NGE and 90 percent of my guild was gone I left. Around 4 months ago I started playing again because I missed Star Wars but improvements were few and far between and the population on my server was at a all time low. This makes grouping non existent unless you have a max lvl and want to pvp on restuss. I tried to enjoy it and actually was decent at pvp though its not much of a accomplishment in the new system so eventually I walked away again. Its like a single player game now with the lack of population and the game engine wasn't designed for the current system so no matter what system you use lag is constant in pvp which kills it.
Try it if you never played it before you might try it but be warned population numbers will likely kill the fun for you.
Does the free trial still only cover the opening space station? The game changes drastically from the newbie station to the ground game.

Games I'm watching: Infinity: The Quest for Earth, Force of Arms.
I might be interested in giving this a 14 day trial shot.
What does everyone else think?
Is it worth the wait time of the download?
No the game is not worth the 14 day Trial. Its still the same old piece of junk that $OE made it into. Not even worth being a MMO anymore much rather being even alive. I hope this game dies soon and someone comes up with a better one.

you can download the full versions of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided™, and its first expansion, Jump to Lightspeed™, then jump in and play completely free for up to 14 days!
Adventure across 12 planets, 10 space sectors, and dozens of adventure zones - there is a whole galaxy of fun to be had in this massive multiplayer online Star Wars game.
Id try Eve or Cox or daoc or anything before current SWG its really silly .

Yea well go for it then I'm sure you'll find it a pretty good mmorpg. Being a Starwars fan is a huge plus though hehe.. Best of luck with it.
Give it a try, bandwidth is cheap these days :P
Good luck, hope you enjoy.
I think it's well worth it!
Chapter 6 will be out shortly and that's going to be cool!

I gave it a try without reading any forums or talkin' to anyone. Just d/l'ed it, jumped in it, and I'm having a blast.
Be your own gamer.
I enjoy undercutting people in the market place - it's the only PvP a crafter gets.
