The game is good in theroy. It's in beta so it's hard to tell what they are going to do with it. I like it but it has a ton of problems right now that don't make it fun to play. Without any of the problem (if they fixxed them all) the game would be good to play.
I've played it quite a bit for a little over a week and it has been pretty fun so far. Its one of the more intrigueing MMORPGs I've encountered and I really look forward to seeing how it progresses as they add in more content, implement features, and iron out the bugs. They are definitely adding some innovations and fresh ideas to the genre, like being able to design your own custom spells and melee actions using a modular skill system. Also the visual design of the game world and inhabitants is very interesting and unique... this is not the tired old traditional Tolkien / D&D fantasy world at all. Keep in mind though that it is definitely still very beta - some would argue that it went to open beta prematurely, but that's a whole other topic of discussion. It is a bit of a "diamond in the rough" in my opinion. This game has enormous potential if they properly refine and flesh it out.
Its hard to tell, since a lot of the game content is not visible to the testers at the moment. I think in the very near future they are planning to put a ton of stuff in... and if they work really hard at it maybe they can hit an end-of-June release date. Personally I would rather they pushed it back some more and made sure everything is polished.
The game is okay, there's still a huge amount of bugs, especially funny ones, where when you talk to NPC's your clothing starts getting unequiped, and with your clothes off, it doesnt lower the price of goods. There's also issues with ATI cards, but thats easily fixed in the configuration. The thing i hate the most is the crafting system, it was really good in the beginning, but when they revamped it, did that thing suck. I love crafting but in this game you have to be a level 100 crafter just to be able to do most of the heavy armor, and thats at normal quality. But other than that when you can play the game it is somewhat fun.
The game idea is clever but the way they implemented the whole game sucks. The world is pretty but the characters and cutomization are extremely stupid. Who the hell can tell your left horn is longer then your right horn or if your eyes are a little more slanted, stupid customizations. As for the characters, WTF they're ugly as shit, maybe I like old fashioned games but these chars don't even compete with AO in their futurisitc look. They're goofy and ugly looking. Furthermore the games movement sucks, as sucky as moving in Lineage 2 with the arrow keys. It's slow and response time is extremely lagged. Attacking monsters is silly, like watching a cartoon meant for 3 year olds. You strike, wait for the bar then strike. When you evade your character does a little swirl motion. OMG this whole game just reeks of stupidity. The devs even put in 3 computer players hunting a monster so it looks like at least someone knows how to play the stupid game. 3 NPCs keep attacking a monster with unlimited HP and its right at the starting spawn point. As for the 7.6 rating, had not been for the entire ryzom development team giving it good reviews I really doubt it would be that high. Heres a tip: You might trick a lot of people into buying your game but once they realize it's that stupid they arn't going to keep playing.
Oh yeah as for the user comment by Misseils or whatever, check your spelling. Its obvious you don't know how to spell english and you're just blatantly saying this game is good just to trick people into playing.
Here I found some quotes which I would probably bet money on are from Ryzom lovers who won't admit their game sucks ass.
"This game is awesome, and has many unique features. I think it has the potential to become something even bigger than it was meant to be.... " - What does this idiot mean? ....
"The most anticipated MMORPG of all the times. Amazing living world with an evolving ecosystem. Not even think about any other mmorpg of the moment. " - Most anticipated of all time huh?
"This could be an exotic and immersive experience. " - Exotic like a south american parrot
Well it must tell you something when the majority of beginners players start hating the game immediately and uninstall and then write posts that bash the game. :P
But yes my post was a little hostile but this game just reeks like a rotten egg. Who the heck is going to play this game? I know maybe some french people might want to give the game some support but seriously this game lacks a lot.
When did you play this game last? I have to admit that there have been a lot of changes since the game went to an open beta but that's sometimes to be expected. It's still beta. Combat is more along the lines of a RPG than a 1st person shooter. There's more to a MMORPG than going out, killing things to make money to buy better things to kill other things with. (or there should be if game is to considered an actual MMORPG = Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game, instead of a MMOG) Yes, there is a lot here that is majorly different from most other MMORPG's out there today. But at least it's trying something different and is not a Everquest clone or an online match of Unreal Tournament with a medieval mod.
I don't know yet i won't pay for it that's for sure but i will look at it again in a few weeks because i am not able to play at the moment anymore, computer crash so i can see what changes have been made and hopefully for the good.
One day all will die, surely you but never I.
"One day all will die, surely you but never I." Wheel of Time
I will say one thing. If you're looking for a game where you have to think about developing your character with his skills and having to talk to other players about more than teaming together to kill things then you might want to check out this game. If you want to go and kill things and get on the level ladder then you might want to check out ieneage II or RYL.
In other words this is going to be a good game when it's completed. I see it almost like a medieval version of games akin to Neocron.
I found it interesting and different from other games I've played, but I really dislike the movement, and the menu system. There is no smooth movement using arrow keys, and no way to move using a comination of both the arrow keys and mouse. The menu system is simply to cumbersome.
they sped up just about everything in the latest patch (yesterday). The run speed is faster, the combat speed is faster (both fighters hitting and mobs too), fixed some bugs with casting times not being accurate, fixed some crash problems. One of the best patches to date. Self healing is still out of whack, but from the dev responses (the dev team is doing great imo) they seem to realize this and will probably fix it . This game will be great (at least for me) and i fully intend to play it on launch, i hope it is end of june

ryzom is pretty fun especially with the latest patch that reli talked about, but it can only get better since this is beta and some of the really interesting content hasn't been implemented yet. also the fact that the devs LISTEN to the community is a big plus for me;)
I haven't played SoR in about 2 weeks because zeus decided to throw a bolt of lightning my computer's way that sent a surge powerful enough to jump my surge protector and fry certain components in my computer.
Anyways, from playing SoR, even though its called open beta which is normally beta 4, it feels like the game is still in beta 2 or 3. This is Nevrax's first mmorpg, and I believe their first game so I want bash them for opening up the game too early for open beta.
Other than that, SoR has some interesting concepts and the story is more original than most other mmorpgs out. If the bugs can be worked out and some game play issues sorted out before SoR is released, then I probably will play it. That is if I can get my fixed to do more than serve the net, or I'll have to break down and buy a new one I guess.
SoR is an mmorpg that you will either hate it or love it.

Ryzom sucks, quite simply. At least the beta as it stood about a week ago sure does. Great graphics but it's extremely laggy and doesn't run smoothly at all. I like the world design but the skill based system absolutely sucks. It's pathetic, boring and unoriginal. Grouping up is real boring, cause everyone in the party is basically the same.
Compared to WOW, GW and EQ2, this game has no future at all.

Finally got my computer fixed. Lol, I had to install a new motherboard and processor along with a new graphics card. It was time anyways, at least, for the graphics card because I did have an old ATI Radeon 7200.
Well, on subject, I downloaded SoR again and played some the other night. A lot of details have been added into the game since I was on 2 weeks ago. The game runs more smoothly with less lag. Graphics are looking better, but that is probably from the upgrade of my graphics card, processor and memory. More detail has been added to the scenery in SoR. A lot of glitches and game play issues have been addressed as well.
All and all, I had missed playing SoR, and the game is more fun now that I have a better system and Nevrax has fixed a lot of the game play and server issues. There is still a lot of work for the devs and staff to do before a final release, but SoR is looking better each update.
I know that there are people that don't like the game out there, but that is ok. The rest of us do.

Anytime I log on today I lag so bad its actually disconnecting me and reconnecting me and I can't do a thing. Im sure it will get fixed soon
but other then that its a fun game
I haven't found it that buggy tbh, but it is very laggy atm. The devs are working on it tho, so I'm hoping that'll get fixed soon.

Abor your first post is not a friendly one i must say.
I like it more then i did in the beginning of beta but don't forget it still has a month to go before it is released.
