People are saying that the fighting in this game is to slow is the true and are they going to improve it
i dnt care personaly i just want to know lol
It's pretty slow because most of your special attacks are on a timer so you wait for them to retime but later on when you have a lot of skill it's get quite hectic.
Invite a burglar into the group too and make him start group conjunctions and then you suddenly have more to think about.
Run your fellowship into 6 mobs while your burglar is starting group conjunctions and then you suddenly are so busy you forget which special moves you need the most because you need to figure out what mobs to attack
Plus you forget which group conjunction is what.
There is more than 80!!! group conjunctions to choose from so start learning the system or you will be lost.
Actually i find it horribly slow if youre not entirely melee oriented. Minstrels are having a horrible time. Theres a nondisclosed amount of time after using any kind of non-melee skill until the next skill or action, be it a default attack, a melee skill or song/spell is activated. I tried it with auto-attack turned off, so the only thing my character would do are skills, and with it turned on, There's basically no difference, the delay is so long i can do a melee strike (which is rather weak, since im a minstrel and i get a ballad that also boosts my magic damage) inbetween all the other skills (a default strike, not a melee skill), because i would just stand there waiting for the skill to activate if i didnt.
When you use different types of skills it gets worse. There's ballads, but there's also melee styles and Cries. Both take forever inbetween ballads. Why the hell do you have to draw your weapon to do a cry? It literally takes forever and makes the delay longer..... And then cries dont even chain well to melee skills, which of course also make you draw your weapon. And with auto attack on i cant even chain these together, because there seems to be a rule that a default attack must come inbetween any 2 skills minstrels have...
When i played captain i could perform most skills instanteous/on the next swing, depending on swing speed.(which also seemed to make 2handed weaponry not that great, since skills triggering on swings favor faster weapons.... sure it works for all skills that have "main hand weapon damage + x" but for anything like stun, bleeding, whatever, fast speed rules supreme) With auto attack off i could have one skill after another, with it on it worked just fine to have 2 skills come right after each other without annoying swings inbetween.
So i'd say that for pure melee combat seems fine and rather fast, for anything that uses some variety of skills (hell even using the Cry with the captain put a huge delay in there) its horribly delayed for no reason.
If you have any idea of martial arts, you will know that real battles are really fast, fast enought you dont have time to think. The combat system is too slow, the animations are too slow.
Just try some martial arts and then you will understand. In the other side, its a game, it dont have to be real, just, funny, if you hit someone with sword, this one will be death, no one holds 160 hits of a sword... this is not real, but, will be a game funny if you can only hold one or two hits? anyway, the game stills being too slow, like nwn2, it must be faster, the toon moves are slow-motion like matrix... they must improve this.
the combat is not slow in this game whoever posted that must be playing on a bad computer because it runs smooth and or just as fast as wow or any other mmo
Casting in the game needs improving. It looks like you are reaching in your pocket, pulling your hands out, cast. It takes too long to cast imo. You basically end up in melee combat as a caster a majority of time. We will have to see.
you do have to remember it is still brand new and i bet alot of these bugs or so will be fixed it did take wow quite some time to work out all ther bugs so just give it a lil time and everything will work out

You ARE reaching in your pocket or bag for an explosive. You are NOT Gandalf, you are not a warlock or mage from any other MMO. There were only a half dozen characters that were discribed as using magic in the books.
Lore Masters are using EXPLOSIVES (grenades), they aren't shooting fireballs from their finger tips.

no, but the think I really dont like is the animations, the champion attacks are... poor.
I like the animations on my Guardian. Solo combat with him is slow, but it's suppose to be, he's not ment for DPS. In even a group of only 4 people when you are fighting groups of mobs (and so far everyone seems to like to pick their own target, I haven't seen many people assisting in groups) combat is not boring and you may find yourself playing catch-up a lot... especially if it's your job to get and keep agro

1 on 1 is booring.
It's more fun when your fellowship takes on several mobs at the same time.
