Beta Questions

ChrislesChrisles Member Posts: 24

Ok I've played the game off and on for about a week or so.  I had a couple questions that I'm a little confused about.

1) Where are the classes?  I mean like Melee fighter, Ranged Fighter, Attack Buffer ect.  Will these all be implemented into the commercial release.

2) The world in which beta is taking place.  Is that just a world created just for beta?  If it is then I think that that is pretty cool.

3) I noticed that there are race armor in the game.  But EVERYONE can wear them.  Will this change in the game?

4) I was wondering how factions will work?

5) Can youi advanced past level 20?  Is there a quest for this?

Thank you and I'm sorry if this is a repeat to any other posts.

    1) Where are the classes?  I mean like Melee fighter, Ranged Fighter, Attack Buffer ect.  Will these all be implemented into the commercial release.

It is a skill based game so there are no classes.  As you advance through each skill tree (magic, fighting, crafting...) you can further specialize

    2) The world in which beta is taking place.  Is that just a world created just for beta?  If it is then I think that that is pretty cool.

The beta map is one small part of the Fyros lands.  Each race will have its own lands.

    3) I noticed that there are race armor in the game.  But EVERYONE can wear them.  Will this change in the game?

yes, but you are correct that racial restrictions are not implemented yet

    4) I was wondering how factions will work?

each player will get a reputation with the different factions in the game depending on the actions you take.  Guilds should set policies so they can build up fame with certain factions, which will lead to certain guild quests.  Fame will be added soon based on the news yesterday.

    5) Can youi advanced past level 20?  Is there a quest for this

You can only advance to 20 in the first tier of each skill (ie. magic 20).  Then you start advancing in the specialized skills under magic (offensive, defensive, self) up to a potential of level 50.  Then each of those skills break out into greater specialization (offensive>elemental, affliction) till level 100.  The max advancement in a particular branch is 250, but there are many many branches so it could take very long to max them all if that were your goal.

Wow I didn't know about the classes.  But thank you much for the reply.  Now I think I'm going to enjoy the game more.

Just that the website www.world-of-ryzom.com confused me and I thought that you could pick a class.  Sorry I guess that I misunderstood.

    Thank you again.

It is easy to understand your confusion.

there are starting configurations to get you started: combat, magic, harvesting, crafting, and merchant(not in yet).  This will give you some tools and skills to start, but progression is totally skill based.

My own questions (sorry to hijack the thread but it seems his were already answered)

In the open beta do they require a credit card number to activate (just wondering because I'm downloading it right now) sorry but this is my first beta.

Its not that there are too many idiots in the world its just that lightening is not properly distributed.

My opinion on this game is very mixed! I mean, im liking the whole crafting thing, but for one, i think everyone moves a BIT too slow =) Actually, WAY too slow...hehe I like the skill system, very very cool ! I would like to chagne my mouse sensitivity? Is that possible? But graphics look pretty decent. Its a wierd world ya know, very unique! So all in all, go Ryzom! Its Free !
