A recent Review stated that to think of this game u had to think of a crap UI that uses mouses.  Ill have everyone know almost NOBODY uses the mouse for ANY PURPOSE in this game, everything can be accessed thru the keyboard more conveniently. Walking with the numpad is very convenient, Selecting monsters with NUM0 is great, rest with * select the Chat window with + and ETC i could go on further.  I repeat thugh, this game may be a grindfest, but it is NOTT by ANY MEANS a Mouse whore  quite the opposite

Who uses a mouse?  I know of no one that does lol...   and I 100 percent agree keyboard is commands are easy and FFXI makes it easy.  My friends on PS2 and 3 have no complaints about using a controler either.

When I first started playing this.. I tried playing with the keyboard/mouse combo.. being used to playing other MMOs and games that way on a PC. I realized quickly.. actually.. instantly.. that there's no way I could play it that way and I bought a controller and played it that way for a while.

Then, circumstances arose where I ended up having to play sans gamepad and figured "ahh.. well I guess I could use the keyboard mode for now..." and put it in compact, since that's the closest to mouse/keyboard I could get.. esp. with W,S,A,D movement...

Well.. I soon forgot about the gamepad... have not touched the mouse, ever, while playing.. and will never play without a keyboard again.

I love the controls in this game. They're different, yes... but they're perfectly sensible once you get used to them.

Alot of people, I think, try it for like.. 5 minutes.. aren't instantly used to it and think "OMG, this sucks!" and give up. It's not the most obvious interface at first.. but it is intuitive once you get the basics down.

Every game has different controls. I agree that this game has one of the best controls where I can access everything very quick and easy. But it is a personal review and if he feels that way sadly there's nothing anyone can do about it.

While we're on the subject of wrong reviews...

    • I finally actually bought and played this game - due to boredom from 3 years of WoW. This game is SO outdated - this "game" is actually just a giant time sync - how you could get anything such as a storyline out of it is beyond me. A friend and I joined - he said a square enix game has never let him down...till this one. It's very everquest-like except EVEN SLOWER gameplay. Supposed to be able to solo till lvl 10 at least - my friend and I duo'd till level 5 (took hours to get to level frikkin 5) then we spent a lot of time dying - loosing exp - going back to our corpses... That's when we decided - this is not entertaining... it's lame...

This guy has obviously never played FFXI.  You don't run back to your corpse, it's impossible.  You think someone who died so much while duoing to lvl5 would notice that.

Heheh.. I love when people hang themselves like that. It's like a guy who said he got to level 300 in Anarchy Online as proof that he'd played it and could review it when (the irony!) the max level in AO is only 220.

Sounds like he took some information from "his friend", which for me immediately destroys credibility. We don't want what your friend thinks We want what you think - and preferably by way of informed opinion - not wild speculation.

Not to give credibility to any of what he said.. but the whole "How you could get anything such as a storyline..." comment made me chuckle. How you can get *anything* out of a game you've obviously never played past 10 - if at all - is even more beyond me.
