I'm trying to find an massive multiplayer online game (MMOG) set in a science-fiction based, persistent world. Players take the role of spaceship pilots seeking fame, fortune, and adventure in a huge, not too complex, exciting, and sometimes hostile galaxy.

Well the star ship portion of SWG is still pretty good.....unless they revamped that recently also
Other then that there is EVE but many people find it a bit to complex.
Unfortunately there isn't much out there for us Sci-Fi fans.
