Well, t-shirt and some good pictures of course. I warn you now, some of these could be construed as "SPOILERS" for others playing the game.
Decided to try to make it to Angmar with my level 14 Lore-Master......never made it. Did get close though and did see some very interesting things along the way. In the beginner areas it seemed I spent alot of time fighting wolves, bears and bugs. This is Middle Earth....where are the monsters? The journey starts....
The bear and I.....
Some of the creatures we enjoyed......or not....notice the lvl 45 elite dragon kind creature...

Damn! You have me drooling to play!
Thanks for the awesome screenies for those of us that haven't been in yet.
Great pictures mate, good on ya for sharing em with the community.
LotRO is beautiful, these pictures just prove it imo. You CAN have amazing graphics and run it on an average comp!
Currently Playing: Everything but MMORPGs
Cancelled: L2, FFXI, VSoH, LotRO, WAR, WoW
Looking Forward To: SW:TOR
Wow, thanks for sharing
By the way, are you using the max graphics settings with the high-res textures from the DVD client?
Adding thread to linkthread so other people can find it quick again.

I'm using whatever came on the pre-order dvd. The graphics are set as high as they can go via the options menu. Screen size is 1280 x 1024....so if when you click on the links your computer shrinks the images, hover your mouse over the image in the bottom right hand corner to bring up the actual image size button. You will get the images I was seeing in game.

What system specs do you have Hairy? I hope my system runs it that well.
How was the performance with the graphics set to max like that?
Excellent pictures.
I'm running an Amd processor at 2411 mhz....EVGA 8800 GTS 640 meg superclocked video card....3 gigs of memory. My kiddo also plays an he's running an AMD processor at 2199 mhz....EVGA 7800 GT 256 meg video card....1 gig of memory. I play at max settings and 1280 x 1024 and don't lag a tad. He plays at game default configured settings, it lags not and it looks great as well.

It sounds like you know hardware pretty well.
I have a P4 540 3.2 ghz, 1 GB ddr2 sdram at 533mhz and 256mb ati with radeon x600 se and 16x dvd rom
do you think i will get the same results? is there anything i can do on my system to improve performance?
Thanks Hairy
You can never have enough memory in my opinion. It is usually the least expensive good upgrade you can make to a system. Might as well wait and see how things run with what you've got though. If your not happy with the performance then go from there.

Thank you for the addition to your clicky post.

Lol ur running an 8800 GTS 640 clocked card, no wounder the grpahics look like that.
Lol for anyone that dosnt know ,these cards cost well over 320 UK pounds alone, for all u americans that dont know the conversion, thats equal to over $600 dollars just for a grpahics card. This card he is using to post those screenshots, is a top of the range card, and he has max settings. Please dont be foooled to thinking and standard card will look this good.
Try using a x800 card, and then come back and post and shiw how good the grpahics are.
Just not my game unfortunately. These days I tend to go on gut feeling, and after a couple days I just wasn't inspired to log in to the beta. Not saying it's a bad game though, it looked and played fairly nice. Did kinda feel like DDO with a little LotR flavour slapped on though, but that's just my personal feeling.
This game is pretty immersive.. I will still bitch about wanting voiceovers though

He posted some screenshots from what it looks like when he runs it as his setup.Should he be yelled at for that because he use a new videocard compared to an old one that you might use?
Don't be jaloux because other players can afford a better rig than you.
The graphics ingame looks like those screenshots with the right rig.
Simple as that.

Very nice and well done pictures, they must just look even awesome with the high res texture pack. You really should install it

I run a P4 3.6GHz (OC'ed 3.2) cpu, 2 gigs ddr2 mem, and an 7600GS with 256mb mem (agp, no less), and I see the game exactly as he does in his screens . His card is overkill for this game, so don't say that's the only reason his screens look good.
Edit: I should also mention I am running the hi-res textures with all settings maxed, and only lag if there is a MOB of people around me. And even then it's a few stutters and then I'm fine.

I will my prescious.....just for you..... (In my best Golum voice)
Tonight/Tomorrow evening I will jump over on my kids computer and snap some shots......Won't be too tough as my character is still hangin out in Rivendale. He got my hand me down 7800GT that is prolly bout 2 years old. I don't think you can get one anymore....they were replaced by the 7800 GTX. I think it is comparable to ATI x800 (depending)....I could be mistaken. Don't know too much about ATI cards. Anywho.....I'm sure we'll be chattin'
EDIT: Ok, after some work on video with the slower computer I have arrived at the conclusion that "ZORVAN" in one of the above posts is absolutely correct when he said an 8800 GTS 640 meg super clocked video card is overkill for this game. I decided that any asshat could run around and find a good spot for a screenshot....max the graphics...take the screenshot....then adjust the graphics back to playable again. I wanted to remove all doubt of this happening. I decided recording in game was the best route to take. I tried FRAPS but found that as soon as I hit record, my frame rate went way down. Tried adjusting the setting in FRAPS but the framerate drop was affecting the playability of the game. Switched to GROWLER, another in game recording program. This one worked much better as far as the frame rates went. Soooo......
I'm running an AMD Athlon processor @ 2199 mhz, 1024 megs of physical memory and a EVGA 7800 GT 256 mb video card. At the start of the video these things should be clearly visible with the help of the Windows XP magnifier. The graphics settings was set at ultra high, this is also visible within the video to anyone who has played the game. There is a substantial lag spot right when I shut off the magnifier, shut off the system information and adjust the screen size. After that gets straightened out the game runs quite smoothly. There are lots of water reflections going on, bloom effects from the waterfalls and mist, and I also brought out my bear to further complicate things. A hiccup here or ther but the game remains quite playable. Running into a town or busy area is a different story....gets laggy there but quickly corrects itself.
Like I said above I know very little about ATI video cards....I do however know that my 7800 GT videocard is a couple years old and you can no longer get one (except on ebay....saw them new in the box for $80-$90.) How this compares to an x800....I dunno. The processor is far for latest and greatest...I doubt you can even get one of those anymore. This is the one that got me.....1 gig of memory. You can see in the video that I have 90+ megs left after xp, recording software and LOTRO are running. I was expecting to make several videos....one with 1 gig...here's how it looks with 1.5 gigs.....and so on. It ran great with just one gig.....so i didn't.
Here is the video:
The point of this is to show that the code is so optimized that a lesser computer can run this game at max/close to max settings. As far as my other computer and the screen shots there, Maddiee, I'm not sure where you are getting your computer parts from but you are getting "Bent Over" my friend. $600 for a 8800 GTS 640mb superclocked? This is the card I have and I paid $379.00 for it.

Those screenshots are awsome! I think I am gonna try this game out. I don't know too much about computers, how can I find out what it has inside? I can play World of Warcraft, does that mean I can play Lord of the Rings? Any help would be appreciated.
I can also play guildwars if that helps.
