Please stop the carebear vs pvp fights

Carebears can not be held responsible for destorying your pvp in a game. They did not go in there and kill PVP. They do not dictate if loot is lootable or not. They do not decide if you lose XP on death or even perma death.

PVPers can not be held responsible for destroying your PVE in a game. It wasn't them who decide to be attackable at any time. To loot your gear when you die. To lose xp or get damage done to your gear to repair.

The people who do it are the devs. They can choose not to listen to the people screaming and yelling, but they do. You should be mad at the devs for changing a game you loved  and enjoyed. No fanbase can "touch and change" a game.

The problem with players is they often take the path of least resistance even when it's not good for them ;)

Developers on the whole are generating an angry mob of people by doing what companies do, going for the money.

Funny thing is most people who complain bout carebears in their game play an mmorpg wich is light in punishment when death comes.

Eve online for me is a nice mixture.Yeah sure loads in eve call others carebears but the carebears have a nice protective place to play and the reall pvpers do to , at least in my view. Both can do the same thing on the danger scale they like to play. You can mine and missionrun both in the lowest as in the  highest protected areas.Admitting that the lower you go the higher the reward is for missions and mining but that's a good thing in my view.

All MMO's these days are made for carebears. What MMO these days are all out sick like Shadowbane? Even Darkfall, if it comes out has some lame arse, F tard restrictions to make people safe or have the uper hand on a mix race guild. The real PvP will die when Shadowbane does. MMO Dev's look at one thing while making an MMO and thats $$$$$$$. There are more carebears than real PvP lovers.

  • flakesflakes Member Posts: 575

Well for me pvp/carebear is not bout the whole world. In shadowbane you could get killed anywhere that's true ,except noob island , but the punishment for it was verry low. Also it didn't matter if you died a lot cause leveling was freaking fast..specially powerlevels at a certain point amazed me.Never levelled so many chars in so little time then in shadowbane.

I think pure pvp is more bout what one can and WILL loose in a fight. In eve you can loose from a days work to months work in a second. In that sence of the word i think after the death of shadowbane we still have eve online as a nice pvp/carebear mixture where both types get what they want. It's ok to have safe places for carebears as long as the pvp people have a good place of their own in the world without restrictions in it.

Starting to sound like an eve fanboy here....i don't play the game since over 8 months or so , so not meant as fanremark

If those damned Carebears would stop staring at us...

Forget it. This post was about to get too silly, even for me.

Can't we all just get along?

I think I am going to go snuggle a carebear... and then kill him and loot his corpse. You know, just to free him from his material attachments. It's a good deed, really.

I am a PvPer infact I don't own any subscriptions to any MMO's unless there is PvP better yet Open PvP options.

I have seen so many threads in the past about PvP vs No PvP.

All I got to say is not all PvE'ers are Carebears as not all PvPers are imature 12 year olds that prey on low levels.

I don't even bother posting in PvP vs PvE threads no more because all PvP'ers are steriotyped just as PvE'ers are.

We had a debate at my last work about this... we basicly came to the decision that I was not really a carebear.

A carebear is somebody who joins a PvP server and complains about PvP... that exact same person, on a PvE server, would be perfectly content.

Knowing what the acronym is half the battle.  If you know that clicking the "PvP" server will put you into the environment where you can be killed, then you understand what's possible to happen.

The term "Carebear" comes from the friend who joins that server who has no clue and then complains about getting ganked.

Personally, I know what I'm getting myself into.  That's why I prefer PvE servers... cause I complain about getting ganked to my guildies when they make me go to PvP servers.

Not sure if this would help but in EvE the true carebear is someone who whines about a game mechanic being too hard and who wants to amke it easier despite the fact aht that game mechanic is easy to avoid. And the end result being he is only happy if the game gets dummmed down.

Its hard to define what a "Carebear" is...at least from a gaming perspective.

To the rabid pre-trammel UO or AC 1 player, anyone who doesn't support a game that lets you attack anyone, anywhere, for any reason and make them suffer by having all their gear looted is a carebear.

I enjoy playing on PvP servers, but I do not enjoy getting ganked by people I have no chance of defeating.  Nor do I enjoy attacking others who have no chance of beating me.  I never attack people who are busy pulling Pve mobs, are way below my level, or just to grief them repetitively. (enemy guilds are an exception of course).  I guess I play PVP "with honor"... but others would call me a Carebear for this attitude.

Some folks only want to engage in PVE if their "flag is up"... or in certain PVP restricted zones (battlegrounds).... they get called Carebears too.....

Truth is, we're all gamers who have different preferences, and it takes all of us to make a community and help a game succeed.  Personally I'd never want to play a game where there was no PVP at all, nor do I care for the FFA, full loot model....

I'm getting sick of the WoW pwns everything posts a lot of fanbois put up, it's getting rather sad and I sometimes I can't be bothered making a witty remark to each and every one of them all the time ya know... Oh and I agree on this, the PvPers calling people carebears for not liking a lot of PvP are stupid, especially since raiding and grinding actually takes up a lot more time than PvP does mostly.

Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.

I disagree. If  all carebears would die of a heart stroke I assure you that future MMOs would all be about both competitive and entertaining game play.

Carebears are a majority. That is why companys create carebear games, not because they are evil or hate pvp but because of the cash. Players looking for a challenge in MMOs are a minority. The problem is that the majority thinks that the wishes of the minority are the opposite of their own and show no tolerance at all. Eve is a very good example that it is possible to combine both worlds.
