I find myself always interested in this game.  However with life and what not I find that time restraints always make me end up canceling sub. So I figure I'll just take it in stride.  Some days I can play 4 hrs.  Some 1 and less.   I like pvp a lot.   So could someone recomend a class that levels solo decently, won't get 2 shotted by a pker and is competetive in pvp?

Thanks in advance.

Human Mage, going necromancer or sorceror.  or either of the spell singer or spell howler.

if you don't want magic then try one of the archers.

if you dont want to be an archer then go treasure hunter, tyrant, destroyer or gladiator.

if you want to have a solid class that have no problem soloing and can stand alone in a pvp fight, go tyrant hands down no question here... they are a "nuke" melee class with insanity crit rates, get one of those suckers close to you and you are dead fast, they have killer stun attacks as well.

if your get locked down in pvp and can't move, no problem charge up your nukes and toss out 1500dmg nukes while the poor caster thought he had you there for a second.

not only that you have self runspeed buffs(totems) that stack with haste pots etc, melee crit rate booster totems as well, the flexibility of a tyrant is amazing and they really hurt in pvp.

they also play a solid role in castle sieges, a fully buffed up tyrant plows thru guards etc like a lawnmover(the crit rate of the melee attacks are just plain insane)

The gladiator class is rumored to be the best pvp class 1on1, i have not played a gladiator but pvped against one with my tyrant and they are nasty to pvp with, the other classes i don't fear much, a well played tyrant smokes about anything coming at him solo around the same level range ofc.

can't really do much against people 40 levels higher than yourself, but you have to live with it because some ppl PK lower level toons like that, manage to get your tyrant to level 80 though and you will be one hell of a force to be reconed with solo and in team pvp.

so my choice if you like melee class is defo a tyrant or a gladiator.

Wow.  Thanks a lot for the insight.  I was starting to lean twards a DE Dagger or Bow, but I'll definately do a lil homework on Tyrant.

As a newer player myself, I'd like to warn against the bow user.  I was originally building a Human fighter to make a Gladiator, but then was lured into the trap of Hawkeye.  It'll be a fun class in PvP.  It seems to work fairly well in PvE.  But it's really expensive.  Most people will tell you to use Daggers until level 52 or 54 or something.  I'm sure that's the best thing to do, but if you're like me, you want to enjoy the game so that you hopefully continue playing and enjoying it for many months.

I've since restarted and am now building a Tyrant and Dark Avenger and either a Prophet or Shilen Oracle/Elder.  Or maybe the Orc Healer thingy.  They have great buffs.

Tyrant for Damage and survivability at most levels, and Dark Avenger for the lure of the Summonable Cat.

There are so many fun looking classes.  It's tought to choose.

Also, I found that doing the DE quests tends to net you more adena in like timeframes than Humans, Orc, Elves, and Dwarves.  Look at Lineage2 Stratics.  The quests for DE's have a higher Adena Payout through level 21.  Plus DE women are fantasy inspiring....er no I am not finding Kimpossible attractive - damn you! She's not just a cartoon!

Yeah I hear ya.   I went Tyrant.   I used that 0-20 in 5hrs guide on the official boards.  Worked great.   Took me 7 but not bad for someone who forgot everything.

good choice going tyrant :) i don't think you will regret it, depending on what you want at higher level etc a tyrant can become THE mage class killer with the correct gear setup, etc the nightmare set provided 70% resistance to the shit mages throws at you, and that is all you will ever need, the spell failure and they go down like ricky martin in a gay bar.

you get runspeed buffs, totem of rabbit is i think 250% runspeed bonus or something(not quite sure) but its enough to run to a player cripple(which is the tyrant snare) and when you are close you are extremely lethal :)

you also get a skill called hurricane assault, this sucker here so freaking owns, a full charged assault at higher lvl can provide 5-6k upfront dmg, i mean it really hurts *lol*

you have the ability to kite as well, cripple+runspeed totem and your distance nukes which are also quite nice, its all about how you play that tyrant, they have the flexibility to get out of most situations.

at lvl 68 you turn into THE lawnmover, this is the time where you turn into one of the most powerful classes in the game, the BISON totem skill, you are green fast strong.... you literally turn into hulk(you will land critical attacks like there is no tomorrow with that buff on)

anyway good luck levelling up your beast :)
