Why I *think* I will like this game

I am an old pen and paper role player and fantasy reader, but somewhat new to the MMORPG scene (read EQ2, WoW). Here is my list of reasons that I think will make me like this game. Feel free to comment or destroy my expectations (especially if you are a beta player with first hand experience)

*Finally a lore I can understand. I read the books and several of the books about the world in general. I grew up with it, I can picture myself role playing it without bitching about details. Could not care less about Warcraft lore.

*Good looking graphics engine with decent performance. Not too realistic (I play games to get away from reality, not to mirror it), not too cartoony and not too ambitious (read Vanguard). Cosy is the word that comes to mind.

*Characters moving seem to walk or run, not ice skate. They seem to touch the ground rather than slide over it. This is very important for me when it comes to overall feeling.

*Being able to play pretty complex music. Being a musician myself it's simply amazing!

*A healer class that can fend for themselves. I like playing a support class, I like buffing and helping people and I like feeling useful... A rogue type character is my last pick.

*Set in a fantasy world rather than the sci-fi bullshit that The Burning Crusade turned into. Nothing wrong with sci-fi, but mixing the two is not my cup of tea.

*LOTRO will hopefully attract people a tad bit older than most WoW players.

*Good potential for some role playing rather than just gear hunting and "i pwn u sux" attitude. Although I am not a die hard role player I enjoy some role playing. Not necessarily enforced by a strict rule set.

*Pipeweed and smoking emotes

(Pardon me French, I'm Swedish)

I'm with you on this one, although I like the Warcraft lore, in no way is it a part of me the way LOTR is.  I grew up with LOTR and read it at least 5 times, together with the other Tolkien books and so forth.  It's the ultimate, and yes the game tries to be true to the lore.  There are compromises, but not very many.

It's pretty accurate.  The character models could use some improvement, especially the animations.  The environments are stunning.

Yes, it's a neat feature.  They're still tinkering with it, but it's fun as it is.

The classes in the game are quite different from other games, really.  The Minstrel is a good class, and it plays reasonably well.  It's not quite like a traditional healer, but it does play that role as well.  It's a healer/bard type character.

It has the potential.  It remains to be seen what will happen if and when the masses arrive.

    *Pipeweed and smoking emotes

Making pipeweed is a bit tedious, but everyone can do smoking emotes even without pipeweed.  And yes it is fun and great
    for RPing.
