hexa thats some fine points here. but HG:L cant be classified as a true MMOrg. maybe a MOG you take diablo II + bits of GW features= HG:L
but frankly the features, mechanics, are actually less complex than GW and DDO. its more like an updated, and expanded diablo with functioning instances( similar to diablo) but has no true functionality that you can classify it under the catergory of a true MMORG.
I look forward to the game truthfully ill admit im a diehard diablo fan, and this is a nice tribute homage to the old school antics we used to adore back in early -mid 90's on battle.net. is it worth paying $9.99-14.99 a month? frankly no, GW is not even worth paying $14.99 and has more in common with MMORGS than HG:L ever will though GW has a completely different subscriptions system set up that works for it. dioes that make the game bad? hell no, but i think the game should be classified properly as not to confuse people who arent properly educated. hell even i been known to be wrong time to time, and got disappointed on a game or 2 expecting it to be something better, or different than what it turned out to be.
But lets make this clear, im not knocking the game as a whole. The game looks like it could offer some clearly interesting fun, but I wouldnt pay a monthly fee to pay for a game that designed in this fashion. play it for free? yeah i would beyond a doubt, but that also leaves a troubling issue I been reading. regarding "items" that only paying customers get access to. which frankly leaves most of the freebee players out in the dark unles they cough up the dinero to enjoy the "perks" of paying subscription. bait and switch? I will allow you to make your own determination.
so that everyone is clear, this is merely my opinion, nothing more. Based on what i know, and experienced for the last 10 or so years playing MMORG's, MOG's, and other assorted online RPG's . doesnt mean its 100% correct or the absolute final word. but i wanted to share my thoughts.
3.4ghz Phenom II X4 965, 8GB PC12800 DDR3 GSKILL, EVGA 560GTX 2GB OC, 640GB HD SATA II, BFG 1000WATT PSU. MSI NF980-G65 TRI-SLI MOBO.
no no, F2P will not get less powerfull stuff than paying customers. P2P only get better looking items, new areas (with different look for stuff), hardcore mode...
and we don't discuss really about what is a MMORPG, but only if HG:London must be here... Tons of things listed here are doubtfully MMORPGS but they are Here.
i think HG must be here mainly because it had new features to the MMO world like real random landscape and encounters and loots...
I'm all far bringing hellgate london here its a great game and very original wth a really creative horror/terror background. The blood and gore and violence will shock you. The demons are horrific (See the hellgate london comic to see) and its just plain brutal. its one of the worst apoclapsye ive ever seen.
Very tight FPS action it will offend many of the newbs that come to this site utterly.
And if you want to get technical as long as there is any area where everyone can interact that is a part of the game, and not just an external lobby, then it’s an MMO. Or remove all games with any instances at all (like WoW).
city of heroes is instancing everything in sight. i think if more than 75 people in one zone they instance that too. if seen multiple instances of the same city. so lame these MMOs arent really that right? Well at least not CoX. and it listed twice too. Cov and CoH

Take guild wars and dungeon runners off, or put hellgate on. They are all MIOs (massively instanced online)
