computron problems

hi there,

i'm hoping someone can help me figure out what's going on with my pc.

i recently moved, and in the move there was some damage to my computer. the heatsink snapped off the mobo slot A mounts. so, i went and got a new mobo. it's a soyo dragon kt-400. i reattached all my old components on the assumption that everything else was fine - it seems to be. my monitor, however, was damaged so i got a new samsung 19" syncmaster 955. my internal components include: athlon xp 1600+, nvidia geforce 2 mx/32mb, 512 mb 333 DDRram, sblive!, 12 gig Maxtor 7200 rpm HDD, 80 gig Maxtor 7200 rpm HDD (partitioned to 10/70), liteon Cd-r/rw, 16x generic DVD...

in the last three weeks my computer has shut down from an overheat at least 7 times. also, when i move my mouse around, there is a synchronous buzzing noise coming from my tower. i've changed nothing (i am planning to do a format soon) since the original set up besides the monitor (running at 1280x1024 res) and the motherboard. my usage has been either downloading stuff or playing mmo's (lin2, ragnarok, knight, eve)... usually the shut downs occur while i'm playing a game, but it has happened also while i was watching a movie on my pc. the mouse noise happens when i move the mouse, but there is also buzzing when i load a new window on the screen.

i've detached the heat sink, wiped the processor, reapplied some artic silver, and reattched the heatsink/fan a couple times. i've reseated all my cards. no apparent effect. i have two additional fans inside my tower and the mobo mount side of the tower is against a wall to help distribute heat away... still no change.

so, given that information, anybody have any idea what the problem is? anyone have similar problems with soyo mobos? or with running a gf2 on gfx heavy games?

any insight/suggestions for what i can do with very little money to fix the problem would be greatly appreciated.
