LOL... I love it... Numbers, with no backing or source, are "proof" of SWG doing great... I hear SWG just had a few people quit, you should see if they hire you... oh wait... Dev's are FLOODING out of the game faster then players now, lol....
Hmm.
Do you have proof that it is doing as bad as you think it is? Hard numbers? Sub counts?
Didn't think so.
Way to avoid the real issue... so where's this proof that these numbers are real? THERE ISN'T ANY?!?!?! SHOCKING!!!! And to think it only took a source link...
I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!
SWG: COA is currently ranked #947 in video games at Amazon.com. That means it has dropped 502 spots in just 3 days. My meaningless statistics paint a much grimmer picture than your meaningless statistics.
When a MMO is "actually not doing that bad", the president of the company that is running the game doesn't make statements about needing to "fastrack" server consolidations. Companies also don't severely slash the operating budget of a ongoing product that is doing well.
HAHAH
YEAH FOR now 947th PLACE out of all the MMOS in the WORLD!!!! YAYAYAYYAYAY

The fact that something with Star Wars on it's name it's "not that bad" it's pretty bad onto itself. Having the Star Wars license is pretty much permission to print your own money. A MMO about Star Wars should've been every nerd's wet dream. What happened then????
NGE.
SOE knows what you like... You don't! And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!
This is true, however, you have to remember that both the CU and NGE was implemented because numbers were dropping since Pre-CU. I figure the numbers started dropping when CH was implemented and the implementation of Jedi probably what really started it down that dark road. Jedi turned the game from a "live your own life," to "get to Jedi asap" for most of the population.

I get the sense that any new MMO coming out can have a seriously negative impact on tthe population of SWG. It feels like the current population , which is not particularily huge, is teetering on the edge.

Tho the Pre-CU will most likely not come back, and yes SWG will never do WoW numbers (remember a TON of the WoW numbers come from the game overseas, and well Blizzard like SOE, NCSoft, EA and other's will lie too.) SWG isn't dead, but right now it is on life support. SOE just needs to really work on the game more then they have been, Chapter 6 will bring in new content, but my big fear is SOE will do a 360 (not the system) and start working on more systems like the GCW System, rather then work on what the players have told them to work on.
They are doing both really. They are giving players what they ask for in some aspects, hence why Chapter 6 includes the Beast Master expertise tree and the start of the housing purge. However, they haven't done anything about other concerns players are having, such as profession based content, more diversity for Jedi, a true Underworld Faction, a FRS system for Jedi, and balance issues.
What us forum users have to keep in mind is that SWG devs are listening to their current playerbase, not us that canceled our subscription. I can tell you from experience, since I play the game, that the majority of the current community will not be asking for things that will make this game like it was Pre-CU. I will be more enjoyable for the people that need content made for them and that like PvP, but I don't see any effort being taken to make the game more appealing to players that like to player different professions at once on one character, like before. But who knows, maybe they will implement multi-classing as a form of end-game content. We've seen many other MMORPGs do that to prolong the life of their game.

They are about 1.5 years behind in a 4 year old game. They ruined Jedi and it's rarity with risk, they ruined crafting with no decay.
The DEV team at the summits and fan fest have lied right to my face and others...
From the animations, to the smooth running of mounting a bike, to the feel of combat to the way it appears in content , from the UI to the fact you have to rebind a key when in fact you should have never had to, to the fact that cities are dead and commerce and that (People feel) are gone.
No matter what, there is and will always only be one fix that covers all of this missing... (THEN on top of that you need people back) -- trust-- THEN fixing that system as well as making good on thier word.
Any person here knows how many lies, missleadings and false acts they have done. The Dev team did or may listen BUT they do not take blame where it is needed, nor do they address the real issues they should.
Obviously it did not work out for most because NOW most of them are gone -- and it's not because the NGE is a success.

It tells me that the whole purpose of the CU/NGE was NOT to make the game better, nor to increase subs, but to cover the fact that the game wasn't doing well SOLELY due to his mismanagement of developer dollars, of his using SWG sub money to finance EG1 and EQ2. He did it to make it look like he cared, and to just barely fulfill SOE's contractual obligations when really BOTH times he was merely slashing costs, while at the same time, blaming first the original design (It's Koster, not me!), then WoW (It's the competition, not me!), then finally, the customers (It's a conspiracy of disgruntled fans, not me!). He has managed to keep his job while screwing up the sweetest deal in MMO history.

The problem of course is that they failed the logic test on both fronts.
You cant copy a more successful game and expect to take subscribers from them.
Its like having two parties your invited two which are identical in every way except one has more people there than the other.. if given the choice which would anyone choose?
Not to mention the fact that a sci-fi based mmorpg is doomed from the start to be a niche game that wont change no matter what you do but at least a well made and original niche game can be profitable even if it cant be insanely popular.
The second is the "be like Luke or Leia" part. They wanted the game to be more "action packed" but even the movies werent so much about action as they were about the characters and their interaction. In the game though with the changes to combat it became so twitchy it was all button mashing with no time to talk and fight at the same time (taking away autoattack was the worst idea ever). Then theres the fact that without content no matter how much you changed the combat system you cant feel like Luke or Leia unless you have some great evil to combat and stories and quest lines that make you feel like your accomplishing something.
Theres no point to flashy fast paced combat if all your doing is "rat tail" quests.
Mustafar was an improvement over Kashyyk as far as content is concerned but since they followed its release with an NGE chaser they shot themselves in the foot.
They traded community for action at a time when people were looking for community because the genre was saturated with twitchy button mashers.

I know that is how they sold the idea to LEC, but I'm not buying that for a minute. It was a costcutter and a blame shifter.
Anyone that ever left the game that i was in a guild with or knew in game allways said the same thing. That they were leaving cause their profession was broke/nerfed..I could allways tell when a new patch came out that pissed everyone off..It was allways opposite of the actual problem..SOE couldnt patch a pair of jeans more or less the game..Every publish was the same and became a inside joke of what it would break..Sad when you can predict a suppose fix and take bets with creds on what would get broke by the patch..
SOE has allways been its own worst enemy, i cant recall many patches that made much sense..One week your profession was working, next it was broke and so on..The real problem with the game Now and then has allways been Bugs and content..Bottomline the game wouldve flourished if half of the crap was fixed and new mobs and stuff to do was added..Some want to make it out to be more than what it really was..The game was just unpolished and handled very poorly and still continues down the same path it did in beta..
SOE and SWG can grow again but not in its current state..No matter how much its improved its still a huge turd..And no matter how much you polish a turd its still a turd..Fix the main issues that have been in since before launch and then you will see the game recover..The NGE is worse than any other patch SOE has ever rolled out..Hence why so many are leaving and none return for very long..The original game was more populated and more fun so when they patch back to that then it wont be DEAD to me anylonger..
its one of the worst combat UI games and dumbed down FPS wanna be ive played..If not for being Star Wars i doubt many would even play at all..Not one thing about the NGE is good not one darn thing..I payed to beta test this game for 3 years, and yet the same problems then arent being fixed...Wonder why SOE doesnt want it to succeed? Dont make much sense to ruin it twice and still stick with it..When everyone knows its just plain bad(the Smed himself acknowledged this very fact) Ive been through every patch and change since beta..Seen the best parts of the game removed but the bad stuff left in..What really bugs me at some that actually support paying to play this crap and defend it..When they could play a FPS online for free that actually works..Boggles the mind

It makes much more sense than, rather than believing in catasrophic stupidity on the part of SOE, that they decided that they didn't care about SWG at all, and thus slashed the budget, while still meeting the bare minimum of their contract, and used the sub money they got from all ofus fans to finance the revamp of EQ1 and for EQ2. When SONY bought Verant, they probably made this executive decision, because they didn't like how the prospective numbers looked when they saw the subscriptions vs the hefty license fee (supposedly around 10 million).
They decided therefore to give the game no support, and continued to slash the budget. Now, we have the mess we have.
It is either that or SOE behaved as if noone at SONY ever took business 101, which is hard to believe.

Winner of the worst MMOS goes to.... the NGE and SWG..!!! http://www.mmorpg.com/showFeature.cfm?loadFeature=1034&bhcp=1
Only recently, Smed said he was shocked when a survey said the players wanted content more than anything else. HE WAS SHOCKED. He never noticed that both times the population actually INCREASED was when JTL and ROTW was released. CONTENT.
What does that tell you?

It sounds great, so great in fact, I pitty those who canceled - Some deluded SWG fanboi who pities me.
I don't like it when you say things. - A Vanguard fan who does too.

SOE knows what you like... You don't!
And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!
