He was incompetent and he will drag down whatever company hires him in the future. He would be best served to look for a job where he doesn't have to interact with the public.
Then why is SOE the biggest money maker of all Sony divisions?
It's not.
Provide links. If not, I call Bull Sh*t on this one.
I think technically it is.. though that would be because it is bundled together with movies and consoles all under the one title.. that being said the last financial reports I have seen linked said that Sony Corp. was losing money and that the only area to actually be doing well was Consoles (timeline of that financial review would make them PS2's).
Overall I would say that being the biggest earner in a money losing Corporation is nothing to cheer about no matter what the department.
Sony's movie division (which contains SOE) is the ONLY part of Sony making money right now, and it doesn't make what it used to.
But Sony lives or dies by it's electronics sales (including the PS3). Sony has been declining there for some time now, and even management has admitted that they have gambled the future of the company on the PS3.
Which they only now seem to have figured out that a $700 console MIGHT not sell millions of units because of the price...
Just as it took them many months to admit that wholesale changes like the NGE MIGHT have been a bad idea because it drove off the player base....
Sony is a dinosaur. Stupid and cold blooded.

OK, I missed this one. SOE is the biggest money maker in the games division - movies were the biggest overall with 2.5 billion $ in profits for last year.

What killed the profits in the PS3 division (SCE) was that they have actually been selling it below cost - the idea is that they make the profits on the games they sell - but so far the PS3 has not been out long enough to see if it worked.
The 2006 SEC report is due out on May 16, so then we will see how it really is.
He was incompetent and he will drag down whatever company hires him in the future. He would be best served to look for a job where he doesn't have to interact with the public.
Then why is SOE the biggest money maker of all Sony divisions?
It's not, if anything I would say Sony Pictures Entertainment is SOE is part owned by SPE and Sony Computer Entertainment America.
As for TH, good riddence. He lied to our face. He knew full well the NGE was in development but said noting like the rest of the dev team for SWG. He might have gone in there a man but he left nothing more then a little corporate puppet.
I remember interacting with TH back when the game was in development...long before he was actually and employee. Personally, I always found him to be bright, friendly, and intelligent. I actually looked foward to interacting with him on the development boards, and beyond. He was also one of the more well liked, and respected, posters at the time.
That said....I do think he did a poor job as community manager. His communication was spotty, at best. He put out way too many promises (BH especially), that just weren't kept, and he was never really able to foster/develop the community into a fun and cohesive group. His constantly changed the approach for organizing and presenting information from the community to the developers, which meant not much got passed along. And, the few "community" things that stuck look/feel more like propoganda than fan interactions. Now, how much of that is his own doing, and how much of that is the company, I don't really know. Still, in the end, on a professional level ONLY, he gets VERY poor marks from me on his performance.
That's just my two cents though. Hope he enjoys his R and R....
Amazing how all the people who were with SOE during the NGE are being slowly let go. I guess now they know what it is like to be sold out by an uncaring company. I personally will NEVER play anything associated with SOE. I wont even touch Vanguard because I dont ever want to see one penny of my money ever go to SOE.

Ship sinking taking on waters of failure rat jumps ship..Wonder why he needed to reassure everyone in his post everything was fine ect ect..If the game wasnt in bad shape would it need that added to a goodbye post? Nope..It would speak for itself and not need defending or little one liners its doing fine..Ive allways said time will tell and so far time has told a heck of a story..The NGE is here to stay but the Devs and player base are all thats missing...
I'll be looing forward to reading Smed's goodbye post one day!
Dont tease us! How Smed keeps his job is beyond me.

I think you have reached the point where your irrational hate for SOE has totally clouded any logic in your thinking.

Well there is quite a list of people who've left SOE/SWG for other companies or to another SOE project. I think that it's mostly the natural employee ebb and flow many business' see. It's just higher profile with SOE because so many hate them (Me included) and use them to proclaim the doom of SOE and/or SWG. Which I doubt will happen anytime soon.
SOE loses more people off of their development team not only for Star Wars Galaxies but for Everquest 2. They just can't do anything right. Not to mention, Galaxies is down to twenty-one thousand players. Even Bria only has around two-hundred-and-fifty at the most. So now Thunderheart is running to get off the sinking ship.
Thunderheart, do you think you will get a job making games? Do you think Blizzard is going to hire you for the next Star Wars MMO when they get the license for it? You'd best find a cardboard box to sleep in because you're going to be homeless and jobless now.
And nobody tell me that Bioware is doing the next Star Wars MMO because Mass Effect (Bioware's next science fiction roleplaying game for the XBox 360) doesn't even play like pre-CU (FreelancerA4: Because apparently all sci fi roleplaying games are supposed to play exactly like pre-CU) from what I hear so I don't like Bioware anymore.
I did my best, gentlemen. Either English isn't his first language or he is a disgrace to all those making the case against the NGE and SOE.

The Key words I think are "another SOE project". SOE is currently trying to hire about 200 programmers, artists, and developers for a new game which at this point is still not even rumored as to what it is. A lot of the moves were to the new project.
This is off topic, but because it shows that there are stupid people everywhere, it seemed like a good spot for it.
