Hey,
Ok, so first off, some of my past with these crazy things called MMOs. First mmo ever was of course, the classic Runescape, which brought me to find some RL friends that played DAoC. DAoC was amazing, not the best pve, but the pvp engine was genius. Played DAoC for about 3, maybe 4 years. Best time I've ever had in an mmo, my friends played, I was 50, I could RvR well and our guild was in a great alliance. Things declined, and we left DAoC, I swore I was done with mmos, but we all know that never happens. Some of my friends ended up in WoW, but one friend and I ended up in EQ2, EQ2 was amazing, though I'd have to say that it was lacking somewhat in the pvp department. Convinced to try WoW I went for it to play with all my old RL friends in one game. This, for me at least, was disaster, the game just wasn't right for me, telling why would take too much time. The next few months was a horrible time of switching between playing with friends, or playing a game I enjoyed. So now I am at this point, all my friends play WoW and enjoy it, I play when I can, just to play with some old friends, but I am in a pickle of looking for a new game that would suit us all.
Well, heres my picture of what would be great. First off, lets go to the pve side, which of course is important. Pve needs to be fun (obviously), and time is not an object if that holds true. Next, pve needs to have an effect on pvp, not too strong (WoW) but it still needs to have an effect, (this includes armor and items). Third, pve needs to have well organized pvp intermitten throughout, I personally can not wait to the max level to pvp, that is way way too boring. Ok, now pve itself, I have no specific views on genre, but more of what I think of as an upside down pyramid. At the lower levels, the game needs to guide you, I know some people love the freedom, but I believe that that freedom is better used at higher levels, EQ2 did good at this, they told you where to go and what to do, but slowly set you free but the 20s, and as you got higher and higher, there was always more and more to do. WoW is the opposite to me, theres so much you can do as you level, but once you start getting up there, its only gear and leveling. Oh, and one more thing, personal view, but why play a mmo if you are going to solo the whole time, the game needs to have, if not push, groups.
Pvp time. Alright, pvp, this is pretty easy to me, it needs to be fast, and be friendly to solo, group, and zerg alike. I've always thought the enviornment should be important as well, but unnecessary . Otherwise, as long as gear isn't a huge impact on the pvp, I'm prolly fine with it.
Why did I write this? Currently I am looking for a game that both me and my friends can all play together that we all will like and be good at. Just wondering if anyone knows of any upcoming or any out right now that they could tell me about and recommend.
BTW - Nothing in here is meant to bash a game, just my personal thoughts on the game and telling me why they aren't true won't change my view, just what I have experienced.

If not that I would wait for WAR. I'm not big into PVP stuff and those are what I know of that scene. Good luck finding a game
As for WAR, not really thinkin that that is gonna end up as said, but I guess we'll see

"When people tell me designing a game is easy, I try to get them to design a board game. Most people don't last 5 minutes, the rest rarely last more then a day. The final few realize it's neither fun nor easy."
Myself I'm burnt out on mmos, no plot , no time to find a group. LOl played for years, never hardcore, but still I use to love mmos.
Help! where did the love go man !?
Don't know if you care, but I ended up just going back to EQ2 alone, and I realize why I can't play WoW. The moment I got on I had a group on my 36 warden, we rolled 5 separate Q groups, and I got a full level of xp in about and hour and a half. Not only that but I actually had fun.
Thanks for the help, and if you play Naga - EQ2 - Freeport, 36 Warden LFG! (Rannek)
