Quests in the starting zones.

For every quest in the dwarf/elf starting zone the Shire has at least 3.  What gives?

Seems like the quest designers did the shire first and then did not have time for the dwarf/elf areas.

Well, then just go to the shire and do those quests.

Heck, I've done most in the elf towns and then several in the dwarf town.

Besides, it allows me to see the world a bit.

The Dwarf/Elf starting lands are definitely less sleekly designed as far as being tailored for players new to the game.

I started Human and liked the Bree-lands very much. I tried and Elf and was a bit lost. I went back and leveled another human to 15. Now, I'm trying a new Elf and I find it a lot better now that I'm more familiar with the game.

The Human level 1 to level 8 track is very easy to follow and the starting area is obviously designed to be new player friendly first vs. realistic world design. Not as artificial as most games are through out, but still feels more like a theme park in those earliest levels.

The Elf/Dwarf starting areas feel more organic and realistically laid out, but the progression of the quests is less efficient from the standpoint of an intro to the game.

I'm now enjoying the difference, but I wonder what impact it might have on new players and their perspective on the game? I have been recommending friends to play Human or Hobbit for their first experience, for what it's worth. :)

Nicely put.  Hobbit for first character is a good suggestion.  The pie and post quests have no equivalent elsewhere that I've seen, farming and other crafts are a bit easier in The Shire, and the humor and sense of wonder are most evident there as well.  Southern Ered Luin is nice as well, but E.L. does get less magical further north.

Yes, but it seemed to me like there was an abundance of delivery quests. Take the pie here. Take the mail there. Don't get me wrong, there are good quests, but I felt like I was running back and forth more than was really necessary.

yes elf/dwarf starting area has less quests but it doesnt really matter b/c u are going to have to do all 3 starting zone for traits/deeds.
