1. Where do you buy/obtain new armor and weapons in this game, because I can't find any place to? I see clothes and weapon merchants, but the don't let you buy anything. Isn't this supported in the game yet?

2. How the hell do I find out what spells do? Clicking on "Info" gives no description at all.

    1.) They are all broken untili fixed. (I am unaware if they made a release when it will be up again because I have quit betatesting Ryzom. However I'll probably come back when they make their graphics engine compatible with ATI cards)

    2.) Read in between the lines, and look at the credits which make up the spells. The spell description is not important as every spell or ability is made up of a multiple of credits. Look at the credit allotment and their description.

    The fact that the armour and weapons merchants in the newbie area are still broken, although they manage to fix the raw material vendor does make me wonder if what some people are thinking is true..... that they left those 2 merchants broken so that the players were encouraged to craft for themselves.    Frankly I don't mind if this is the case, there are plenty of player crafters around, for the earliest lvls you can probably get stuff for free if you ask nicely on universal, or at least pretty cheap.

    By looking on the website of this game it makes me think its going to be a little happy place, like cute little bugs, and flowers. Is this game really better than it looks?

    Yes it is much better then it looks.  In the noobie land there are a few cute things but once you are away from there the things are cool looking.

    The weapon and armour merchants are now back in game. You can get some information on the spells in the SOR official forum. I have been playing the open Beta for about 2 weeks and enjoy it so far. Not sure if the ATI video card problem has been sorted or not. I have always used the Nvidia family of cards and it runs well on a FX5600.
