The seed yield from "poor" plants has been reduced from 3 per plant to 1 per plant.  So now you will have to pay for seeds as well as other inputs, and the seed input is no longer more or less self-sustaining.  This breaks crossbreeding and high-end farming completely ... the patch notes say that more changes are coming.  Who knows when we will see them.  Clearly this was a short-term "stopper" change to nerf gold sellers in the short term before launch.  The wording of the notes indicates that Turbine knows they are breaking farming, and that they will try to fix it later.

So ... LOTRO enters release with one tradeskill deliberately broken by the devs thanks to gold farmers.
    old news dude

Oh? How so?  Was this announced yesterday?  Did I miss something?

I agree that the sell cost should have been lowered, but this change makes crossbreeding completely undoable.  Turbine themselves say in the patch notes that they are making other changes, so honestly your "no harm no foul, dude" is way off base, mister fanboi.

"Pipeweed seed processing recipes now only give out 1 seed instead of 3, like they were always supposed to. (Farmers, please drop the pitchforks! There are changes coming to better your plight. More details to follow.)"

I think it is for the good if they nerf it again. Anything to deter gold farmers, Again No Harm and No foul in my book

Word to the all the farmer residing in the united states, If I get one more god damn email, I will submit yuour website, and emails to the I.R.S.

    who me ?

Not everyone is a fat , lazy, loser, lifer....

    I play about 2 hours a day seeing i have a job / familly.

I dont like spending the 15 hours a so playing kill the mob yeah 2 silver kill another  WOOT 3 silver..... kill another awwww only got 59 copper :(

Rather buy the gold get the gear and make the few hours i get to play leveling easier and more fun......

But on a side note.... Game is no different than the rest of all the MMO's kill A Give to B run to C get reward and few silver /yawn....

Played 1 week-end nice grafix very polished.... No PVP=boring constant grind to get gear to do what???

Show the newbs how cool u look ?

Yes but you realize that you cannot crossbreed at all with this system?  Do you understand farming enough to understand that?  This breaks high end farming.

Still to get tell offering me gold in LoTRO ( playing on EU servers from friday night )

Now compare this with 10+ tells during BM run in WoW ( 45 min ) ... now that is annoying.

Scuse me. Not all gold farmers are Chinese. There are a fair few from China, yes. But there are more from Malaysia and Indonesia. Also Koreans and a large number of south americans.

Either way, I don't really view the gold farmers as the problem. Its the gold buyers who are the true douche bags.

If no douche purchased gold then the prices of things would not get so rediculously high that you need to farm for hours or buy gold to afford them anyway.

heh thats like saying the drug dealers aarent the problem

Both are the issue, and the game companys dont do much to stop it.

Are the buyers innocent? no... but hell look at l2, if things werent so expensive the secondary market wouldnt be so huge. Dont make epic money sinks and you wont have epic farmers

Heh drug dealers aren't the problem.

There is a problem if you already get tells in game trying to sell you gold and silver (which i have experienced).  But it can be solved if players don't feed the hungry wolves. its all a matter of demand and supply. Starve them and they will eventually die out. Its all up to the players.
