Fallen Earth, good SWG alternative?

hey all,



i've been looking into Fallen Earth for quite some time now, and if the devs at Icarus Studios will do what they are promising (and it certainly seems so)... this game is absolutely going to kick some serious ass.  But annyway, i started this Topic because i think this game is a bit overlooked by the ex-swg crowd. How manny times have i read the phrase  "Oh, i wish there was alternative to the old swg!" here on these forums... dozens, hundreds even maybe?



I really believe that for a large proportion of swg-vets FE will be a good alternative! Think about it, its a sandbox game with no classes. Everything will be based on skills.  There will be various factions who are warring wich eachother for playercontrolled city's, recources etc etc. The game itself is set in a post-apocalyptic timeframe, no orcs, no elves, no fantasy!  The world itself is truly massive, i once saw a video on youtube about it. The dev who was playing pointed out a large plateau, he went on to tell us that it would take about 45 minutes to walk to that plateau... go figure!  On top of that the crafting sounds verry verry promising too. 



so in closing, it might be wise to check out this game vets. I'm sure a lot of you folks would be suprised!

    That UI of theirs is NGE all the way....

    I hate FPS MMORPGs...I will skip this one for that very reason. If it was not for the UI, this would be a top ten game.

    True... but i am not talking about a exact replica of SWG of course mate. It's about being the best alternative . I dont think it's verry realistic to think that there will be some future game with the exact same UI as SWG had back in the day.

    I'd rather not listen to SWG "vets" whining abot the game they lost all day long in chat, so no. I don't think it's for them.

    Sorry, its not like the NGE, as its really a FPS.

    I just want a sandbox game. I love building up my house, being part of a town, and just being my own character in a game. FPS/Turn-Base/Fantasy/Sci-fi whatever.

    i think they 'll have themselves a winner that will appeal to a few different types of players. let's hope they can actually pull it off.

    Good point.  It makes no sense to indentify with 80% of an MMO's community who had left due to malicious business practices.

    As for FPS game play, I'm going to approach this with an open mind.  Keep in mind that SWG-nge is very bad, partly 'cs it was never designed to function with twitch controls, other games developed that way from start do pretty well...

    When they're still cryin' and whining a year later? Instead of moving on, like normal people? Spending their time plotting stupid schemes to "stick it to SOE"? Damn right I don't identify with 'em. They can spout off in a forum all they want. Who the hell wants to hear their babbling when your trying to enjoy a game that has nothing to do with their grievance?

    I do agree with you that since this game will be designed with FPS mechanics from the get-go, it should be no problem.

    I didnt know it was such a huge problem with people whining about pre cu in different games. I think most people use forums for that. Anyway, i think this game might appeal to those who want someting simular to swg, no matter if you prefer pre or post cunge. If it is as good as it looks like, i can assure everyone that you never need to hear me whine ingame about swg.

    Holy CARP! I watched the video for it and it looks very fun. No end game weapon drops, just crafter stuff. WOOHOO!
