After everything that has been said about this game. After so many posts saying how bad this game is. After playing through my 10 free days. Everyone dissing this game is wrong, and I love it. Granted it takes a beast of a computer to run it smoothly. I cancelled my WoW subscription after about my 6th day on my VG trial. Yea so what the game still needs content, but what game doesn't? Even after the expansion for WoW I was bored to death about 2 months after. No game is going to keep you forever. You just have to enjoy your time with it, until your next great game comes along.

Vanguard has both of the things I have been looking for for so long. Pointless, fun, addicting FFA PvP, and an awesome indepth crafting system. Throw in boats that you control, and being able to build your own houses and this game is like a dream come true.

If you played VG before and had performance issues, lag, or CTD, go ahead and give it another shot. Most of the performance issues are gone, the only problems you should have now is if you have an old computer. Which if that is the case maybe you should get a new one anyways?

The only thing that irks me is the population. But that isn't because the game is bad, it is because of those people who played it for 5 minutes, had lag because they are running on a 5 year old computer, then ran to the forum boards and complained about how bad the game is. So many people are unwilling to even try the game because of these people. Just give VG a shot. Who knows maybe you will fall in love like I did. If anyone is really willing to give it a shot, let me know. I have a buddy pass that I am willing to give away to that one person who will put it to good use. Be prepared though, there will be a test to pass before you get the pass. Based on what mmorpgs you have played, and what you liked.

For all those VG haters, WoW fanboys, or whatever you wanna call yourselves; don't bother flaming me. I love VG and no amount of he said she said is going to change a thing. My only reason for this post is to inform all those people thinking about trying VG and needing that extra push, that this game is worth it.

Yup, it took me about 40-45 days to finally give up. Once I got past the newness and some of the graphics "oh wow!" stuff, I realized it was an empty shell.

took me six weeks before I got up, went to the bathroom and said in the mirror "What the F**ck am I doing? I am literally working my ass of to ""play"" a game!"

I then went downstairs. Told my guild goodbye and cancelled my account.  Two weeks after that I deleted all 18 gigs of waste from my PC.

I have to agree.  Aside from the huge timesinks they call crafting, diplomacy and adventuring, the game is just one big chore.  I want to be entertained and the last thing I want or need in a game is the feeling that I'm working rather than playing.

With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal

You seem to chew through MMO's pretty fast, I'm sure VG will be no exception.  One question though, if I may? Did you give Rose Online and Ragnarok Online the same glowing reviews?

lol - your logic needs some work. Not everyone likes the same things, so just because you love the game it doesnt mean that the people who hate the game dont hate the game.

It also doesnt means its a great game because you love it, or a crap game because someone else hates it.

I agree with you that people should try it for themselves to decide if they will like it or not. But personally - since I wont get any share of the revenue when the game is in a release state - I dont see why I should fund the development.

WTH are you smoking boy? I got a better computer than you and this game runs like absolute ***p. Not to mention that its only playable on lowest settings if you pvp even if you have the fastest computer known to man. Yes you heard me, the fastest computer know to man....http://www.top500.org/....can only run this game at 25 fps in towns on the pvp server. WEAK!!!!!

This game needs to die and it needs to die soon so we can set an example of what not to do in the future...

And i used to be a vanboi like you too after two months though i lost it. Ever hear of reefer madness? I got vg madness. Smokes so much of it that everything is moving in slow motion.

I wouldn't even bother to try it. I'm not spending $2000+ on a new computer just to play some broken piece of trash. Everquest days are over. Its been owned by WoW. Tough bickies.

I played about 3 weeks in the open beta and a month after the release before I realized I just wasn't having fun, and probably wasn't going to going forward.... so I stopped..... the OP may reach that same point sooner than he thinks....

Everquest days are over? You might want to do some research into that before stating non-factual things. I know for a fact Everquest 2 is hardly dead. Need something to wash down those bickies?

Why?  Have the performance issues, lag, and CTD been fixed?  Everything I read says no.  What major problems have been addresssed since I quit last month?

Sigil already took me for $65.00, so I refuse to "give it another shot" without a free trial.  In fact, if they were smart, they'd fix all the major issues and then send out a free month trial to everyone who played and cancelled in the first 3 or so months.

Cool glad your enjoying the game.

Enjoy the content, take your time, there's loads out there

Dont worry about all these non players who hang around in VG forums stiring, they'll always be that way no matter the game

Also very glad you're enjoying the game. It really is something special, some people just don't like it and truly enjoy bashing it even though they may not have played in months. When I get my new video card I'll be back. For now playing LotRO because you don't need a video card. Not the same at all but still fun.

a-b) No, I do not doubt it; and I also imagine they are nice features - and one reason I bought the game. But I am struck by people who cite as a reason why they love the game something they have not experienced yet.

    c) Just a response to a rather condescending comment about how people without top level rigs are to blame for a substandard experience. Actually, my performance is OK on high performance, and my rig is not great; but strange things happen that spoil immersiveness for me - and would appear to be to do with the game, not my pc.

Anyway, look, I am glad if you enjoy the game... but as someone who would also like to enjoy what I spent money on, it would be a little more constructive to hear why you enjoy the game based on things you have done, rather than read about. (Unless you have been in a boat and built a house - in which case I am very open to hearing about that experience... )

And to dismiss problems with gameplay experience as purely an issue of having a computer that you think I should upgrade.. well, it's just not that convincing, given the many comments from people who have state of the art computers.

Im not entirely sure which problems you are referring to but i can tell you that for the way i play the bugs have become trvivial. Performance is still an issue for many players. There also seems to be a problem with highest level content (although the content down at my level is just fine).

The game still has some performance issues even on top end machines. Its a fair complaint. It still runs poorly on bottom end machines.

It works ok for me but i'd like to see it improved.

No I think high performance setting, in the defaults are so ugly that you cant play. It is that bad. Hopefully the increase that performance so you can go higher on tree details and such things to make it look nicer. In the forthcoming patch

About the houses well atm there is to much I feel I have to do before I venture there, guild have spots.

And uhm that is actually a big part of why I like the game you just doesn't go to and return back just like that. Ofc there are other things to. Let's say that I am planning on a trip to the houses this weekend, to me that sounds more fun then timesink.

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.
