I don't know about any of you, but I am so sick of developers who advertise themselves for encouraging roleplaying and setting up servers that are tagged as RP but there is almost literally no Roleplay available at all on them! So far whenever I have tried going to a Roleplay server or an MMORPG that describes itself as having a good roleplaying community, the community itself is incredibly small, there are a few guilds around or there are just no roleplayers around at all. I just find it incredibly frustrating not to mention annoying because I feel that developers now just use RP tagged servers as an excuse to try and bring in a different type of player for more money, World of Warcraft could be seen as an example of this, I've been on quite a few Roleplay Servers and yet, it's almost nothing but raiders and PvPers with the odd roleplayer around and now It can easily be seen if there is a guild around that it's usually just someone with an ego the size of a mountain that's trying to flaunt around their power so it ends up discouraging roleplay. I personally wish developers would just think and allow people to simply type /roleplay like we could before in Everquest 1 and even Everquest 2 has it, that way there wouldn't be any annoyance with RP tagged servers and roleplayers could find each other easily.
Oh yes and excuse the typo in the poll.
Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.

The only time i ever used the roleplay tag in EQ was when i wanted to be anon but still appear as if im online in my guildlist.
r.i.p. c!
And for me, I role play enough when I project my identity on to the in-game character. For me, it's enough to say I am (My RL name here) as Rhunex(or w/e game name I use). Because I am playing that character, and if I(RL me) wants my in-game char to get 10 levels out of grinding or try farming out a decent weapon then that's the same as adding an "aspiration" so-to-speak to my character to do such a thing. This works for me, and is all the roleplaying I really need...but I know some people want to go the next step in and carry out conversations as their in-game char. I just don't choose to do that because I think it's ridiculous when at the end of the day you'll be down to WTB and WTS when you try getting further in the game by getting better equipment.
But I know others find RP enjoyable and attractive so instead of them trying to RP with me, someone who is unwilling and 100% defiant to such nonsense, they should be given a safe haven where others will join in t heir roleplaying fun. I'm not saying people who like RP are bad in anyway, I just find it a waste of time on my end. I only get maybe 6-18 hours online each day and I don't want to waste any of it talking to people I don't know/don't care about.
So yeah if they were told "Go here for RP" I'd like that. It gets their annoying selves out of my way, and it gets my annoying self out of their way. We both end up happy, and I really enjoy being happy.
Everythings standard pattern! This is the Imperial fething Guard! Standard pattern boots, standard pattern mess tins, standard pattern bodybags! Im a standard pattern infantryman, youre a standard pattern no-neck, and any second now my standard pattern fist is going to send your nose bone back into your very sub-standard pattern brain! I somewhat agree with the the other posts here...
RP server should be only for RP but still, like in WoW RP's are a minority and if you close up the servers to only those who RP then the population should get pritty low, and it would get hard for newcommers to later start up a new char on that server when almost everyone already in there mid-40's.
But on the other hand, to get rid of those who thrashtalk RPing ingame and just plain ruins the game for those who like to RP.. well, GMs should just throw those chars to another server.
To play alongside a non-RP player isnt anything that im against, its just that small procentage that destroys the fun of RP'ing just becouse they dont have the same view of the game.
and to put strikt rules on how to play an RP-server is almost the same as "This is how you RP, if you dont do like this you dont RP".
and thats just another way of destroying the RP'ing, becouse you cant really tell whats right and wrong about RP'ing, only give guidelines on how you CAN RP. Mostly things OOG, stats and things like that can be generaly considered a non-RP talk.
but then again, to have a GM "bossing" over the server for whos RP'ing and whos not then that would be the only real thing he/she could go on... and i dont thing that would make much dofference.
so just keep strong, do your thing and probobly you will find a group that think of the game in the same way you do and.
I only speak from experiance with WoW so i dont know how this is in other games but there we (friends and I) started a guild with a common goal and history, we set out and from time to time we picked up a char/gamer here and there that wanted to either try it out or was looking for what we had, soon we found several other guilds and started to interact with them, so we had a strong force going... i dont know how this is now but i fear that most of my comrads have gone into hiding and several guilds have met there end.
But like all things it too has it endings, and it was a blast while it was.
(and maybe it still am, but under other names, other guilds and other chars)
im going back there to see what has happend and if some are still alive, you will never know
well, my two cents.
over and out
