Tss it's only cause you have goody poeple complaining about stuff they see on the TV or on a computer, In the UK old men moan about seeing sex on TV though they never moan about the violence which is kinda odd the older wemon moan about seeing violance and about seeing sex... all i think is well change the flaming channel if you don't like it... instead they complain and everyone else has to suffer... gets on my wick...  most violance on the streets is related to drugs,... I have no problems with people taking them if they want to ruining there lifes go ahead I don't give a monkeys...

Games don't cause violance.. boxing on TV is real but I don't see people moaning about that, but does that cause people to go out and try to K.O anyone?

What is well known amoungst researchers in the area  is that Violence on TV and in Games increases Agression.  This does not mean that your going to grab a knife or gun and start killing people, it means your more likely to shout at someone or react in a more agressive manner.  This is turn can lead to more physical violence, but the idea of Murder and Assault directly evolving from playing a game etc is one the Media corporations have actually fostered.  Why?  Because its easy to turn it around and discredit.

However, when put into the context of increased aggression, virtually all non-media sponsered studies show a link between violences in games, TV and film with increased aggression.

Simply put, the world would be less aggressive if we werent bombarded with it in our everyday life.

Ironically though, I personally enjoy violent games and the like, but I dont delude myself into thinking there isnt a modicum of influence, even if its just to wish for the rocket launcher button when I get cut up by some moron when driving . . . .

While the media has had thier part in this myth, personally i blame the courts and lawyers.

When something violent happens defence lawyers try to think up every possible thing they can to get thier 'client' off the hook so what we end up with is the person who is being charged blaming all sorts of crap on why they did it, games, films, drugs, low IQ .. etc etc lets face it, thay are going to be locked up and will say 'anything' to reduce thier sentances.

The same is happening with cannabis right now, next year it will be something else and the media love it.

If people use common sence then we don't need these surveys and science behind games.Explain to me why games or music or movies would create violence when we have books full of murder/death/kill since centuries and no one ever mentions that.

On a side note it's also common that in the US alot of the violonce from youth is linked to games. Then tell me why most countries in europe don't allow the ease with wich you can buy guns etc like in the US.But no , then bush or whoever tells you guns are good.Yeah in fact  if everyone had a gun we could defend ourselves against the disfunctional gamers.....makes sence doesn't it...NO IT DOESN'T!!!!!!

But hey it's my 2cents....now i'll get back to playing GTA , just hope i don't live in your neighbourhood cause who knows what i might do after playing that.

I agree with this study, but then again, I have had this opinion from the beginning. Honestly, the only way for someone to become violent from video games would be, as they said, already pretty senile or crazy, or at least a little off their rocker. The only problem with this study I forsee is that with young children, and not always being able to seperate reality and fiction as well as older, more mature people.

It is the curse of society. They are always looking for someone or something to blame. Before Video games it was tabletop games like Dungeons and Dragons before that it was rock and roll like Ozzy Osbourne and all the way back to the witch trial and the Spanish Inquisition.

It seems as if society doesn’t want to acknowledge that there are bad apples in every bunch. No matter how you look at it these ppl had issues long before they saw a movie or read a book or played a game. Nutz is nutz.

Twenty years ago, it was Rock Music that was the cause of all our perfect wittle angels turning to crime and violence.

Twenty years before that it was Free Love and *gasp* interracial mixing being blame for society's problems.

Today, it's video games that are making someone's apparently very impressionable kid snap.

Makes  you wonder 20 years from now what the clueless politicians and lawyers will blame.

For some, Violence is a game.  I have been playing violent games for many years and I love them.  I however don't even like watching the news on TV because all it is about is violence that is happening.  I would rather shoot some guy in the head in a FPS or chop his head off with an axe ( like in Rune)  than to watch a surgery on the health channel.  I know the difference between real life and a game.  With guidance from parents you will/should learn the difference between playing a game and hurting someone.  There are people out there though that are fascinated with violence and they will partake in it no matter what influences they have.  They will seek out the book that discribes it or a movie that shows it or (the target of the day) a game that you can superficially partake in it.

I guess I should stop watching the UFC and Boxing because I love the adrenaline pumping when a fight is going on but,  I don't want to walk down the street and elbow someone in the forehead.

I have kids and I watch what they watch and I explain what is good and bad,  There are other kids that don't get that luxury of someone telling them or explaining to them these things.  They are told to shut up and go play, or to get out of the way and go do something.  The responsiblity lies in many other places than in a video game.

Maybe you didn't noticed, but the truth is that we're living in a planet ruled by selfish, stupid, narrow minded people that think that everybody has the same type of defective minds.

There's no other way I can explain discussing things like mixing reality with fantasy.

If you want to discuss sick people, that's ok. But with or without games, sick people will still be sick people
