roleplayer with questions.

((hello all, i am thinking about several games, with hopes of eliminating this list and evenutally eliminating it down to the game best for me.

anyway,  i am na ex star wars galaxies player, having played it shortly after the Cu and quitting about a month after the nge, for various reasons, to many to type out now.  anyway im looking for agame with a good background story, thats friendl.y to roleplayers, maybe even has roleplaying servers.   or if not that maybe an unnoffical roleplaying server with a good population.  activity is a must, as though i am a heavy rper, i am in some ways a casual player as i don't have 50 hours a week to dedicate to the game.

i would like to be able to log on at most times within reason and be immersed.

things i consider a plus are, a good list of emotes,player housing,character customization,a decent pvp system,ability to play the evil character i once did in swg.   i played WoW and found it lacking in the rp aspect, as i can't really get a feel for an evil character in the WoW storyline.  any and all of these  are good .

Eq2, dark ages of camelot,City of villains/heroes(i played it last year, but if lacked real depth,has it changed?), Vanguard??.

The only game I've played that has most of what you want is City of Villians. It hasn't changed, but if you try it again, start a charater on the Virtue server. You'll find more RP players there than on any other server.

Have you tried Neverwinter Nights (1 or 2)? It's not a traditional MMO exactly, but there are many user hosted MMO servers out there with persistent worlds. Many of those have stories (or at least a history with an ongoing "plot") and the ability to play good or evil (or somewhere in between). Plus, they're all free! You of coruse have to buy the game for $50 (for version 2, version 1 you could probably get for $20 or something), but that's given. Some of those worlds are just huge!
