Whats all the fuss about?

I keep hearing that conan and WAR will come out , rock the MMORG community and bury a few existing games by taking away their subscribers, but for the life of me I cannot understand where everyone is basing this at. I mean its not like the companies releasing those games are new to the genre. Funcom is the company behind Anarchy online. A prety good game overall, but with one of the worst launches in MMORG history and one game that never really took of. Also I find people way too optimistic about how this game's performance will be. I mean you have the company that launched Anarchy Online, making a game that is optimized to run for windows vista (not a very good system for games, and one that take a lot of current pc's resources to run) and has already been pulled back 6 months for polishing. I hope it turns out good, the more good games out there the more options for me,  but I fail to see why all the fuss. If Conan turns out good it will be a suprise to me, not the other way around.

As for WAR, again I dont see whats all the buzz. Sure DAoC was a pretty good game, but with serious flaws. And nothing I have heard so far makes me believe that those same issues are being dealt with. Everyone is talking about how cool RvR will be , but what about PVE in the game? Have heard almost no mention about PVE in the game.

The only games I am excited about are Bethesda's Fallout MMORG and Biowares MMORG. Those are two games that can truly suprise me.Two great companies that havent released a MMORG yet. For the rest if you want to see a preview of what will be live, just go and play their previous game a bit. From my experience when a MMO company makes a new game a lot of the systems etc are based on their existing engine .

Really whats all the fuss about? And dont tell me screenshots and things promised. I mean DnL was probably the most anticipated game ever based on early buzz.

There really isn't much good out right now and till this day there haven't been any truly great PvP based MMO's and AoC and WAR look to be it.

I am highly anticipating AoC but I understand myself that I could possibly be set up for disappointment, but hey, life goes on. I remember anticipating Vanguard: Saga of Heroes for a long time only to be disappointed by the unfinished game that was released late January.

MMO's come and go, good or bad, it's just how the gaming industry is.

Yeah there isn't crap out right now.  LOTRO sucks, WoW is boring, Asian MMO's give me a headache grinding all the time.  So I look forward to something new...and Age Of Conan and Warhammer look awesome.

If there is anything to learn about MMOs is don't join the game at launch.  I generally wait 6-12 months before joining.  All the major bugs will be worked and the servers should be stable.

Measure your expectations and the disappointment magically will fix itself.  Why keep being disappointed?
