The intial release has been mostly finished for quite some time. They added one final area just before the end of closed beta and now they have the first expansion already announced. I read that some folks have already started beta testing Isendgard, (still under NDA, so I can't confirm this with anyone) so I assume even more new content is under developement and will follow later this summer. (August maybe?)
As for major patches cause some roll-backs, 4 hour down cycles and patching, haven't played an MMO yet that doesn't go through that cycle, (and I've played a lot of them) so if Turbine somehow manages to improve on this, great, otherwise it will just be what I'm used to and I'll live with it.
You know guys, keep in mind, just like a good stock fund, past performance isn't necessarily a good indicator of future expectations. Sure, Turbine may have whoopsed up AC 2 and DDO, but it does not mean they didn't learn some lessons from them and can't put out a great game this time. Hey, movie studios don't always release a hit every time, no one seems to be able to do that (well, except for maybe Blizzard)
