There's lots of issues/points to discuss about VG. From one side a lot of 'problems' that VG has to overcome, from the other side, a lot of points detailing how those problems are either being solved, already solved, will be solved, or they are not problems to begin with.

OP is claiming a performance increase has occured. The fact that the game is boring or not is really another POINT of discussion isn't it?

I would honestly like to hear more about this performance improvement, as other posters are saying there hasn't been any change. Given the architectural nature of the software (sigil licensed UT engine) I don't see how it's possible for them to do that much... Unless various tweaks and optimizations will SUM UP to increasing performance. But I read the patch notes and I see this and that, nothing about a real performance overhaul. It played like a dog for me in CB (dual 64b intel, 6800 w/ 512, 2G ram).... I would like to know if that has changed.

There are now much more detailed options of selecting performance texture wise.

You can pulldown a lot of extra options to tweak out the performance, ie, set it to balanced, but set some of the textures to lower quality and gain a bit more, or set it to high performance, and up some other texture sliders to make it look better

Also the default options like " high performance and highest performance"  are much more tweaked and run much smoother, while also look much better then before. the options are not the same as they were, and the effects and visuals are completely different aswell.

my machine really couldnt run vanguard at all @ high performance, and it looked complete dull with no shadows and crappy trees without animation.

now i just have it @ high performance and still have good trees, shadows, animation etc etc while still getting a decent fps

This is directly from last weeks patch notes, i resubbed because of it, and really made the game a lot nicer for me.

They should have elaborated a bit more about what changed they made, but i have described it a little with my crappy english ;)

    CODING NOTES

    - Some significant enhancements to graphics performance on the High and Highest Performance settings should be seen.
