.....as people make it out to be... i played it for awhile and was not impressed. Those who agree please reply.
the graphics are good, but the gameplay is not. I mean why would anyone want to have to run all the way to a monster manually instead of being able to just click and relax.
anyone agree?

Click and relax? matter of opinion. Personally I do not like click and move. I prefer old WASD movement.
As for the rest, I think WoW is a great game. Best of its class for sure.

Those who agree please reply? So basically you started a 'discussion' where you wanted everyone to have exactly the same oppinion as you? How utterly pointless. Click and relax? What you are looking for is a DVD, not a video game.
On the subject, I don't really know what you are trying to say maybe "Why should we run to this Boss when we can TP to it?" or "Why do we have to run to this Boss and have to work to kill it?" Really... I'm not sure on your question thing. If it's the second one, because good loot must be earned not handed to you like a scrub feeding off the work of 20-30 good players. Do your part and MOVE MOVE!
World of Warcraft in its self... is just like every other MMO on the market. Its not bad, but its not great. As to why it caught on so big? I think it was a mix of hitting shelves at the right time and a decent company behind it.
WoW is easy. Seriously. It is pretty straight forward and has a very small learning curve. There are no intricate crafting blueprints, or weapon upgrade kits. The classes are straight forward as well. Every two levels you run over to the trainer and plop down a certain ammount of cash for your new skills.
The player community is.... ok at its best in my opinion. People will sometimes help you out when you need it, but alot of the time they just don't generally care about you. Its all about them unless you get into a good or at least decent guild.
Quests are generally repetative (but most MMOs have this anyways) and most quests feel like the one you just did with a different dialogue to get you started with.
Instancing in the game is used pretty darn well and used especially where it is needed. I congratulate them on that!
The world is expansive and full of things to explore.. however there is no place for someone who just generally likes to explore. you have to hit 60 first.. otherwise you can expect to be mauled (which is kinda expected) The graphics? They're alright i suppose. They are meant to go along with the warcraft theme and for that i commend them on keeping tradition to inspire new, however MMOs and communities nowa days are screaming for realistic trees and sparkling water.. =/
The MMO has its ups and its downs.. both equal to one another.
However, i think in its own.. WoW is missing something... something big enough to turn down people. Especially after a long period of subscription with them.. you just get bored and feel the need to walk away.

Agreed in many aspects. But you know, I had to go back, and here's why.
I am not some "old school" MMO player, I started playing MMOs back in 2000 with the Ryzom beta. After that time, I fell in love with MMOs.
Since then, I have played many MMOs, and the only one I have been able to truly stick with was WoW.
I love Anarchy Online, traditionally, I am a sci-fi gamer, and therefore it is great, but I found that with AO, and almost every other first generation MMO, the gameplay seems ultimately grindy. There is little to nothing more to offer, and it falls short for me. However, I did play AO longer than most, clocking in at 9 months.
After Ryzom, and most first gen MMOs, I hit the WoW train, and while I liked it, I never hit off too well. I always got mid 30s, and ended up leaving, because it felt like there was something missing, so after around my 5th level 30ish character, I quit.
I then went onto many other MMOs, trying out all the 'little guy' MMOs like FairyLand, Monster and Me, those stupid asian grind ones, everything. I then hit EQ2, which was great, but I found the same issue as I had with WoW.
Then, I found a group of people I liked, that played WoW, rolled on their server, and had the initiative to get to 60 in around a month. Up until BC, I played with them, and loved every minute. There's something great about jumping into WoW, running an instance with your buddies (not some hardcore 'we are elitest bastards' guild, your real friends) sitting on ventrilo, and just having a good time.
Around the Pre-BC PvP patch that screwed up WoW, I had a great time, everything was awesome. At the time of the patch, a lot of big guilds fell apart, because in Blizzard's infinite wisdom, they took guilds, and split them apart with their stupid PvP gear blitz that they almost forced the population to go on.
Up until last month, I had quit WoW, but after jumping between nearly a hundred MMOs, now that things have cooled down, WoW is fun again. Your same group of buddies is still there, you can still have a great time.
I think what most people expect wrong from WoW is that they want it to be more like first generation MMOs, they want nothing more than to grind their faces off. But if you look at how BC is setup, Blizzard is reducing the grind, and steering away from it. Reputation is now easier to get, it's not a years worth of grinding anymore. Items are easier. Raids aren't huge as hell now. Everything is slowly progressing to a playable state.
I don't see the point in bashing WoW all the time, frankly, you people who bash WoW all the time do it because you think it's the "cool" thing to do, and sadly, it just makes you sound like a moron.
No one bashes your game, why bash other peoples? Go play your 'inster derogatory bash here' game, and leave everyone else alone, seriously. You're all just a bunch of 'insert retarded name that makes me feel empowered by putting you down here'.
No not really. WoW was great because at launch it wasn't a disaster like some many other MMO's before it.
Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.
Game(s) I Am Currently Playing:
GW2 (+LoL and BF3)
my major complaint against wow is that it is a greed based game. 70 lvs of grinding, questing to get the next uber item with better stats. really nothing to use them for. PvP was an after thought with this game and it shows, nothing gained but items. takes away from any skill used when the player that can last the longest to get the uber item will usually win .
WoW is a good game for many reasons like because of its quality but yeah I agree I think it could have been much better. It inherited some of the problems of previous mmorpgs with is part of the problem, they are trying to solve some of them so kudos to them for that.
I wouldnt think these threads were so bad if they actually had any factual points, the majority seems to be opinion and most of those opinions seem to be about minor things.
You dont like WoW? Great move on, you dont see me whining about every game I dont like.

There wasnt much hate in his thread. So I would call that an unfounded attack.

The thing is, it feels like I have already played WoW for an infinite amount of time. Everytime I sit down with it it feels like I've already done EVERYTHING and nothing impresses me. It's so generic I grow tired in 10 minutes at max.

click and relax....WoW has it's version, Num Lock!
Weak example...No I don't agree...
If you aren't enjoying yourself try something else no need to bash it.
However, it looks like the two of us have very different reasons for not liking it.

While I'm not a big fan of WoW myself,
I have to say, the point click'n'coffee idea of the game you're talking about (GW) is total and utter BULLSHIT
I play to experience a game, not to have a teaparty.
Shush.
Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
It all sucked.
It was the end game that I tried and didn't care for. The raiding was too time-consuming and repetitive, not only from a raiding standpoint, but all the work you had to do to acquire special resistance sets, factions, and potions and the like. It just wasn't fun for me, and although I loved taking down new boss mobs, after the 10th time through it was just another grind.
But not having a point and click interace certainly wasn't an issue for me, I prefer WASD, because I enjoy the freedom of movement it gives me.

Nop.
I for one hate those *click* *click* MMORPGs... Just can't play em, WASD seems way more natural (maybe because I played alot of FPS games).
And WoW isn't that bad. It lacks any depth but that's why is big. Some people like more easy going games and even so I came from SWG I loved WoW for 1st month or two. But then the lack of depth kicks in and you are sick of it.
But it's great for RPing and if you pay attention to quests and don't just rush em for some stinky XP and gold... It's very fun game, love the lore (even so Blizz pissed on it from time to time).
If I wasn't playing EvE right now... I think I would be in WoW even so I subbed and canceled my account like 10 times so far.
WoW was fairly stable at release, although my server crashed constantly, and I kept dying due to roll backs.
I don't expect great MMOs to be released any time soon. I might be proven wrong by AOC or WAR. I like LOTRO, but it is good not great.
Comparing WoW to MMOs that have been released since 2005 is like comparing bottled water to tap water.
I'm still waiting for a good beer.

The quests are rather thoughtful if people actually take the time to read them and not treat them as just a loot delivery device. There is humor, lore and all sorts of well written content. They are not the best by any means and do just repackage the typical fedex or kill X quests, but they offer more entertainment than standing in the same parcel of land murdering anything that moves until you level. Murder based leveling is very boring, but still a healthy alternative in small amounts. My fear is that quest based leveling is going to become so important people loose the social aspect of MMOs. No one will group together unless they are sharing the same quests. Already seeing it in LOTRO and not liking that trend.
I also respect the attempt to make boss encounters unique and vary in tactics. Even in small 5 man dungeons they try to break the tank-n-spank EQ mold of gameplay. Use tank and just apply the correct amount of healing... ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I hope more game makers take note of that.
Overall the game is not as challenging as other MMOs, but at the same time it is not as tedious either. Way to many people put some sort of HardCore labels on things being tedious. Warcraft does way more right than they do wrong. I admit I bored of the game faster than most, but that doesn't make it a bad game by any stretch. Personally I didn't like the changes in the expansion, to much grind and focus on pure raid specs.
