There is one thing where K2 network certainly beats IAH in..they aren't so damn slow.

I mean come on, when was the Singapore version first announced? 8 months ago, if not more?

The time difference between closed beta and pre-open beta is almost 2 months! thats rediculous.

K2 network is brinnging the game to the west in about 6 months, which is quite fast for an import game.

From my understanding, the Singaporean version of Granado Espada is the first English-language edition of the game, and Sword of the New World is derived from it, with K2 Network making changes to it that they feel are more appropriate for their fan base.

I don't see how IAH is being slow with Granado Espada? They've already had their closed beta, and are going into their open beta in just a few weeks.  K2 Network hasn't even announced the date for their closed beta.  Both the Singaporean version of Granado Espada and Sword of the New World are being released in the summer, as far as I can tell.

K2 network will re-translate the game, they won't use IAH's translation, from what I have heard.

Well you have to take into consideration that IAH games gained the license for GE about 7 or 8 months ago? if not longer (that is when they first announced the game). K2 network announced GE at the end of january, so I'll assume they received the license around that time. If both are scheduled for release this summer, then K2 network published the game in much less time then IAH did.

I mean, come on...almost 2 months difference between closed beta and pre-open beta? I have never heard of a game that has so much time between Closed Beta and Open beta.

Yes, I'm a bit impatient, but first IAH gets us all hyped up with the closed beta (which didn't last long) only to tell us to come back in 2 months.

I don't think it will.  That's the incentive to preorder SotNW: so that you can participate in the closed beta.

    @Gameloading

Want to know why its taken the extra time?  For the bulk of the 7-8 months IAH has been working with GE they have been working with the version just before v2.0 (I forget the version number for the one before it), and they wanted to make sure for Pre-OB and launch that they had v2.0 ready to go.  K2 on the other hand didn't get GE until v2.0 was ready to go.

That and I don't see how some extra time in CB is a bad thing?  How can taking extra time to make sure stuff is running ok and debugging some more ever be a bad thing.

The thing is, Granado Espada singapore is trying to stay as loyal to its korean counterpart as much as possible, so the only thing they need to do is translate the game and make it work on the servers.  The version before was version 1.8. Imo, its silly to go for V1.8 in a beta test when your going to run V2.0 on retail. That makes little sense. Those months they haven't been just working on the client (after all, there isn't much to change), they just focused on the business part. I find it very hard to believe it takes 8 months to make a game ready.

Also, we didn't get extra time in CB. instead, there is a time difference of 2 months.

    Question for ya.

1.)  What different wise is SOTNW trying to do in order to be different from GE?

Sure while it might seem silly about the whole 1.8 and 2.0 issue, you gotta remember some key things.  They probably didn't have 2.0 until about 4-5 months into working on it as 2.0 is still fairly new.  While for SOTNW they didn't get a client until v2.0 was already out and they started working straight from that.

2.0 has been out in korea for quite a while now. I find it hard to believe that IMC games let them work on 1.8 only to swap for 2.0 at the last moment.  I think if they would have gone for a 2.0 client right away,it would just have meant that the closed beta test would have started a little later. in return, the time difference between closed beta and open beta would be much shorter, and the game would be release earlier. I think the reason its taking so long is because of business things that have nothing to do with the direct development of the client.

About the changes, this is from the community manager:

"our game client will not be seen in any other regions, as we are making our own improvements and adding unique features to the game, such as improved character customization, a more intuitive control system, improved game balance, a more involved storyline, and fully localized text and VO (just to name a few of our improvements). In addition, we will have access to all future features put into the Korean client of the game and will be working very closely with the Development team in order to determine which features would be most beneficial to add to our client version."

So this singapore game is gonna be free, and its gonna be in english?

Why would anyone pay an extra 10$ a month for basically the exact same game with the same item mall and everything?

IAH has not yet released a payment scheme. Also, as I pointed out, SotNW:GE is going to have more features.

Well say it is free who gives a crap about a few features?

    10$ a month adds up.

I'd rather pay a few dollars a month to get a game that isn't lagged to hell and inferior in every possible way.
